I have had my truck pretty much stock aside from the hypertech chip for the 12,000 miles I have put on it and now am ready for some upgrades. First I think would be a larger exhaust system and possibly an intake. Is it just an air filter that makes the whistle louder or is that a whole CAI system?

I have heard that the filter helps, and the entire intake does even more. I still run the stock filter. Mine got a lot louder after removing restrictions in the exhaust.

Ditto on the exhaust. Going to install an afe progaurd 7 intake. That should make more turbo whistle also.

A larger exhaust and intake seem to help with the turbo whistle. With an AFE intake and 4" exhaust, you will definately notice a difference.

all is true... intake and if you can fork over the $$$ get the complete kit and definatly the exhuast helps... and if you can even better yet... open up that cat... tremendous amount of whistle...

The LLY's wistle pretty good with exhaust. I would first start with some exshaust upgradeds and swisscheesing the factory box(since its free) with the stock paper element and see iff you like that, if you want more then get an intake. JMO

I agree with ratlover, air box is the first place to start.

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I am going to order the AFE stage 2 intake with the pro guard 7 media. What do you guys think about eliminating my muffler and just going straight pipe with the OEM exhaust? I was think of just doing that for the meantime until I figure out which exhaust I want to go with. The guy down at this exhaust shop is telling me Flo Pro but I havent heard anything about it and cant really find any info on it either besides their website.

to really make it whistle go to a muffler shop have them chisle out the honeycomb in the cat, it only cost me 50 bucks . last year i installed a magnaflow catback exhaust 4 in stainless and an air raid cold intake, i have a hypertech power programmer 3 ,its on level 2, after they took the guts out of the cat it runs like its in level 3 now, and u can hear the turbo whistle now, big improvment .

Is the plastic that says 6.6L connected to the intake tube?

If so isnt that basicly an air silencer?

If so, Than taking that off and capping the hole off would give you more whine right?

If this is an idiotic question than bear with me....first Duramax!:o:

as everybody says intake and exhaust bring the whistle my bully dog 4" and custom air cleaner make my truck sound like a jet. I pulled a trailer to Kentucky the other day and people two lanes over on the highway gave me some funny looks. Mine is loud at 10psi boost on the highway. My dad just bought an 05 cummins and he asked me how to get his truck to sound like mine, first thought was buy a Duramax :) :exactly:
