How many lbs do you have when driving unloaded? The manual says to keep them at min 5lbs but it depends on your application and what you're trying to achieve. Does more lbs improve the ride when unloaded?

I hooked up the my 9,000lbs TT today without the weight distribution and it sank 2 inches (1 inch less than OE height before lift). With 65lbs in the airbags it went up 1 inch. I know the goal is to keep your rig level but what do you recommend?

BTW - I have the Heavy Duty Sirlift (5,000 capacity)

Thanks

Two things. When unloaded, the 5 psi just keeps the shape. The more air, the harsher the ride.

Put your air in before you hook up. I find adding after gives really inconsistent results.

I ran mine at 85 when towing the 5'er and 5 when empty.

As you said, the goal is to keep your rig level, so play with it and see what works best. Just don't exceed the PSI on the bags and keep a little in when empty so they keep their shape.

I go 5-10 unloaded. 20psi before I hook up gives me about 30 when hitched. 26' tahoe toybox.

I run them an min psi when unloaded, otherwise too harsh going over bumps and rr tracks. I inflate to 60 psi before hooking up my 5th. I have onboard compressor, takes too long to fill if I have the trailer hooked up first.

not to hijack your thread, but are airbags an alternative to Weight dist. bars? I use the Reese 1200lb bars and they are nice but a pain in the rear.

i have the reese hp dual cam wd. not an alternative but addition to level the truck (stock it sank 3inch, with lift 2, with airbags 0)and helps stabilize the truck while towing. i haven't towed with it yet as i'm waiting for my drop shank to come in.
