Just got 2 599 6.5 engines and wanted to see if someone had a idea of what they originally came in.

Engine # 1:
tag on valve cover reads:
1994 model year
190hp@ 3400rpm
62.2mm3 @ 3400rpm
And it has a DB 4425 IP mechanical (wierd huh)
And it is a 599 casting.
Also has a mechanical lift pump similiar to a regular old SBC. The turbo drain goes to oil pan.

Engine # 2:
Tag reads:
1992 model year
200HP @ 3400rpm
59.5mm3 @ 3400rpm
DB2831 4911J IP

Check out the different outputs at different fuel rates...I thought that was interesting.
Also, this is the 1st 94 non electronic IP I have ever seen.

Anyone have any input/comments on these engines?

BTW, I might be interesting on selling if the price is right. I traded some work out for them thinking maybe I would do a 18:1 buildup...but I dont think I'll have the time. History is unknown on them, and the intakes/turbos are gone. Other than that, they are semi complete. If I get more serious about selling I will post pics and make a thread in selling. My main objective in this thread is to see what the heck these came out of and hopefully get some feedback.

#1 could possibly be military with the mech pump. (just a guess)

Or any other N/A application such as a frito-lay truck. My '93 and '94 have the same BS on the valve covers. It's just advertised horse power. I used to jokingly think to myself that the intake snorkel and the castweb must have made the hp drop with an increase in fuel.

Grumman-Olson (Frito-Lay) Panel trucks had mechanical pumps as late as '95, but I've only ever seen them with 5088 or 5436 pumps. 4425 is a new one to me, I think thats a 6.2.

Could be steiner, just look in the valley wall next time the intake is off. I noticed 549 on a '95 recently.

The 1992 engine I know was turbo. The 94 Im not sure. But the HP kinda tells me it was a turbo. Also, it has a turbo oil drainback. So if I were a betting man..I'd say they were both turbo.

Also, a buddy of mine that works for the city said they have a 94 Mobile vacuum sweeper truck that has a turbo 6.5 w/mech IP. MMMMM.

I learn sumthin new everyday.

The second engine is the HD engine with Turbo. The First engine has the wrong pump on it.
