I just learned from another thread that my 02 is a california emmission 8.1. What are the differences/negatives of this if any? Thanks guys

i didnt learn until after i bought my 01 that it was a cali emission truck to. my brothers got an 03 non-cali emission 8.1 and compared to his theres not much difference, the extra 2 o2 sensors, the smog pump under the hood, and 2 small pre-cats in front of the regular cat. converters are the only real physical differences i've seen. as far as performance mine seems to have just as much power as his(we are neck and neck if we drag race) but his does tend to get 1 or 2 mpgs more than mine. so i've never seen any real downfalls to the cali emissions other than the bit less mpgs, oh and with the extra cats about the only way to get any sound out of it is to run straight pipes.

cali emmisions covers more things for longer time under warranty.
