Hi, recently purchased an 05 dirty have been looking at clutches and flywheels for the truck. I had one purchased but I thought I would post a message before I went and got one, see if anyone has found what works best. If you know the price of the clutch and flywheel post that too. Thanks.

The toughest setup will be CPMac's single mass flywheel and either a single or dual disk setup.

Since you have a 05 you should have the lastest DMF factory installed. If you want to retain the original flywheel, I would suggest a South Bend Clutch for the truck.
I along several others have been very pleased with it's performance.

For sure get rid of the DMF, I have the newest version w/about 20k on it and it is falling apart already! Go with the CPMac stuff!

Send him a PM @ CPMac. They put the ZF-6 in the 01's, wow I thought it was still the 5spd...good to know. You can run the Edge with the factory DMF and clutch but on the higher settings the clutch will go bye bye pretty quick and the DMF will start rattling like a tin can!

Yeah it's stock with like 7k on the current clutch.I let it out a little quick with about 1200lbs of dead weight behind it and it sure made some grinding noise.

We are trying to put a clutch kit together as well, but will require some time to see if it is doable. If you can wait a bit longer we can get some details togther. I am in the same boat, my DMF is about to fly apart any day now!!

Hey, my first time on this forum, but I need help also. Can you tell me how to get in touch with CPMac. I need the clutch/flywheel in my 02 3500 CC 4X4. Although the last FW was installed under warranty, they will not replace it anymore until they find the permanent fix--ha-that ain't going to happen. It is a piece of junk!

FYI,just yesterday heard what bigol3 said. Reading between the lines from a dealer that GM must be getting ready to dump the current DMF setup and go with something else.

A guy a couple counties from me has had I think 4 flywheels already in roughly 60K and one of those lasted less than a week. I had heard that GM told him if the one installed now fails that they dont know what to do.
By the way the current DMF that is installed has a SBC attached to it. It has been in since April and have not heard no bad report yet.

I tell you, I am not a mechanic nor a manufacture--BUT I bet I could make a flywheel that did not work! GM should be ashamed of themselves. To make it worse, is their attitude that since they can't correct the problem, they will just forget about it!!!

I agree w/ Big OL/3!!! GM has really disapinted me too! They know there is a huge problem w/ the DMF and they pretend it does'nt exist. T told the dealer service rep. that numerous people have had their DMF replaced according to what I have read on the web. He just gave be a blank stare, like I was sticking may nose into something it did'nt belong. So, as you can see, I have been going round and round w/ the dealer service rep. today about the flywheel replacement. After I completing extensive research on this problem and sharing the findings w/ the dealer, he still tried to tell me the FW is fine and the problem is a throwout bearing! But, he tried to sell me a clutch kit for $750. I think I finally got to him when I asked how the throwout bearing could quit making noise after the pedal was depressed past 1/4 the way? And how it could cause rattles and noises when downshifting. He had no come back and agreed to replace the DMF, but he told me, " I am on my own after this", what ever that means. I ordered a OE clutch from South Bend (talked to Woody) for $275, but I had to get the slave clylinder and t/o bearing from the dealer. I guess it will work out OK, but I don't have final bill or the truck back yet. TO BE CONTINUED!
