Sluggish meaning if you stomp on it at a stop it reacts slowly. If that is the case then that is usually the normally thing. GM programs so much torque-managment into these trucks so you can't tear up the transmission if it is stock. If this is what you are referring to you need to find someone who can tune out some of the torque-managemnt. The 4L80E in the gassers can handle quite abit of it removed. There are many programmers out there that can send you a tune on and ECM. You swap out ECMs and send yours back to them as a core most of the time.

I bought a used 2003 1500 hd and felt the same way. I just had Blackbear Performance do a scan cable tune. Justin found a couple of problems which I corrected and then performed an 87 octane tune. We removed about 50% of the torque management as well. Overall the truck has a lot more pep and mileage has improved about 1 mpg. I think the 1500HD have a handicap with most only having 3.73 gears and weighing about 1000 lbs heavier than a 1500 4x4. The tune has brought it closer to the performance of a 1500 with a 5.3 but definitely not the same.

Your Welcome. Only one I ever dealt with on gas tuning was Jesse Bubb from www.wait4meperformance.com . You can buy an ECM tuned and ready and as last I knew you kept your stock ECM too. You check with the other tuners in this list and what they could do for you.
