: Quadzilla Stealth Version 4.02 ( update)
Bronco 05-17-2005, 09:16 PM Hello,
Been running around with the Quad Stealth Version 4.02 for about 2000 miles.
So far this tuner is very impressive. All 10 tunes are smooth and very drivable.
I do believe that all of the past negatives are history. No more service engine lights, fishbite, rattle. Every tune is smooth and impressive.
With 10 tunes to choose from you are sure to find your favorite.
I cruise day in and day out with the 70HP. Great tow tune.
For the money this tuner is the best tuner. Hands down.
( Sure glad the new Diesel Place policy will keep this thread from being bogged down with info about other tuners and negative post. :ro) )
Jim659 05-17-2005, 09:26 PM You got that right.

Thanks for the report Bronco. Glad to hear that Quad has made some good progress updating his tunes. A real bargain at $699.00 ;)
marksrt43 05-18-2005, 12:03 AM Excellent report.....:ro)
Do you have any fuel economy numbers?
hdmax 05-18-2005, 09:55 AM Excellent report.....:ro)
Do you have any fuel economy numbers?
I have never seen fuel mileage improvements with any power mod. I think most that claim improvements, are just dreaming. The newest Stealth is no different. I have almost 800 miles on mine, and the mileage is down at least 2 mpg, but then again, more power means hotrodding
ratlover 05-18-2005, 10:05 AM Cool deal. I hear a few rumors that its stronger too? I may have to play. If I wouldnt have sold my juice a bit of playing wouldnt bee too expensive either.
Is the only version available the one with all 10 tunes??? I know there are probably about 12 screens saying you will blow your stuff up on 215 and plenty of warnings in the manual ect but you know how the general population is.;)
Bronco 05-18-2005, 10:45 AM The fuel milage gain is there if you can keep your foot out of it. I would say it is a break even. Same milage you just get there quicker.
The 30 HP will gain an easy 2 but once again you have to keep your foot out of it. Try the 30 with a light foot and 20% bio diesel. Nice smooth effecient.
Ratlover there 1 screen asking for you to agree you tires are speed rated and there is 1 screen reccomending a pyro.
I do not think this tuner is anymore powerful or less powerfull then my last revison 1.21. It is however much more well mannered. If you did not install it yourself you would never know it is there, well except for the necklash when heavy on the skinny pedal.
ratlover 05-18-2005, 11:43 AM Not bashing quad but I have a feeling some uninformed people are going to nuke some stuff. Its like handing a 12 gauge to a 8 year old and asking if they have ear protection  That is if your only option when you buy one is the full boat deal.
Max Payne 05-18-2005, 12:16 PM I still get the fishbite with the 190 and 215 tunes (cruising at 50 mph) I haven't tried the other tunes):h Also has a pretty good rattle stacked with the HJ. But it runs strong, that is for sure.
Chebby03HD 05-18-2005, 01:39 PM Well I'll throw my .02 in here.....
I've had mine for a couple months now and like it, and going against all rules from DP members and what not, I have had it set on the 160 setting since day one. Yeah I know, it's only a matter of time, but I don't flog the pi$$ out of the truck either. What I can say is this....
1. Has quite a bit of power that's for sure on this setting. (215 is so tempting, but I do need the tranny to last a little bit longer)
2. Does have some timing rattle compared to stock, but nothing that's unbearable.
3. I have noticed the "fishbite" at about 1600-1700rpm which is about 50mph. (But it seems to spuratic, sometimes it does it sometimes it doesn't)
4. My service ABS lights have went off twice, which I believe is something common with programers.
5. Truck gets very good MPG on the highway, just came back from a 1200 mi. trip and with a 1500lb. load in the bed, cruising @75mph with the A/C blowing cold it knocked down 18.5 mpg. For the whole trip it averaged 19.5mpg, as there was no payload on the way back.
Overall I am glad I went with this tuner, soon to be stacked, and yes there will be a tranny upgrade!
ratlover 05-18-2005, 02:01 PM Were you at in IL?
ABS coming on is NOT normal or shouldnt be. Did you mess with your tires size or alter the tire size with the programer? It may be causing some flake out issues.

Make sure your gear ratio input is 3.73.
Measure with a tape from the ground to the top of the tire tread and take that measurement and input it into the tire size.
That should fix any ABS problems.

rcr1978 05-18-2005, 03:04 PM Hey guys what the hell is fishbite? Sorry Newbie!!!! Is it the throttle response? Like when it's half floored it mite as well be all the way cause both are the same on some tuners.
ratlover 05-18-2005, 03:13 PM Its kinda a surging. Picture getting a fish on a line, not a constant pull when the lil bugger is trying to get away right? Kinda a tug and jerk. Its an old term from the good old days when the Edge Juice was new and trans upgradeds were just a wet dream for most.......

Its an old term from the good old days when the Edge Juice was new and trans upgradeds were just a wet dream for most....... What he said. It's not brand specific either, we used to use the same term in the late '90's when I had my first Cummins. I think the description fits so well that it's pretty much universal on most tuners and programmers. Just get into the pedal a little faster, you won't evan feel it after awhile.):h
ratlover 05-18-2005, 04:18 PM Here I thought it was started with the first juice versions back a few years ago. We are going to have to come up with another phrase if the cummins guys started using it first.):h

rcr1978 05-18-2005, 07:41 PM Hey thanks for the answer guys, why don't ya call it the rabbit hump):h

Quadzilla has two tuners, one has 6 tunes and goes upto 135 hp, then there is the race tuners with 10 tunes. $500, and $700
As for power changes! The Version 4.02 has a lot more low end grunt then the original one had on all levels it is noticable. I would have to look at my old tuner too see what version it is, but I am thinking it is V1.02 or .03

Ottawa, bout an hour southwest of Chicago, you know where Starved Rock is?
Hmmm, I could have sworn I read somewhere that it was kind of common, it actually did it when I had the HOT PPE in there too, only once. I took it to the dealer and there were no codes or anything, the work order said that it was a loose ground  , not so sure on that one.....
Yep I calibrated it for the tires, 3:73 rear gear and 33" tall tires.
ratlover 05-19-2005, 10:02 AM I'd talk to quad about your ABS issue
I'm in spr or peoria depending on the day of the week. This sunday at great lakes drag way is the first DHRA points even of the season there. It should be a great time! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31387
Max Payne 05-19-2005, 01:08 PM Also, mine has locked up my PCM now twice while trying to load a tune from stock. Never while changing tunes though. I limit myself to changing tunes when I am at work, so I can have access to TIS2000 and a Tech2 to bring my PCM back to life...
Chebby03HD 05-19-2005, 01:10 PM I suppose I could give'em a shout..... maybe take it back in to the dealer and have it checked out again.
Peoria is only about an hour drive or so from me.
ratlover 05-19-2005, 01:40 PM Yup, not far. Starved rock is a cool place to go hiking and such. The drag strip is about 4.5 hours for me and thats with a pit stop for fuel/food. Wouldnt be far for you ;) We could caravan up, you would take 39 up I assume??? Lotsa diesel trucks and good people/good time. You know you wana go;)
Chebby03HD 05-20-2005, 09:12 AM Yeah it is, nice to take rides through on the bike too! I usually just reference Starved Rock as it seems people from all over know where that is. Is it 4.5 to Byron? I frequent the Byron area quite often. Yep 39 typically is the easiest way. I would defintely like to go that's for sure, just have other previous plans...
ratlover 05-20-2005, 09:14 AM No, byron is quite a bit closer for me. great lakes is about 4.5 or so
