THe little arm that is attached to the turbo that you attach the actuator rod into spins freely and spins a full 360 degrees. This does not seem right and I am guessing it is what is wrong with my turbo. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Sounds like the waste gate is loose or gone . You won't get any turbo pressure and it probably smokes (black) pretty bad upon acceleration. Probably need to rebuild or replace the turbo. Look in the market section I am sure some one here has one for sale.

Is it hard to fix? I am pretty broke right now and would prefer to get it working without spending money. Still probably will buy one when I get some extra cash and can afford one....

Turbo will have to come off. Also the piece that broke off is in your exhaust. If the center section is still good you might have a member here willing to give you an old wiped out turbo so you can salvage the exhaust side. Better to buy a good complete turbo off one our extinguished members here. :beerchug:

any ideas on how long it will take to take off my old turbo and buy a new one on? I am trying to figure out when I will be able to come home from college and swipe out my old for a new. This happened at about the worst time it could....

Periodically spray the studs/nuts with PB blaster as far ahead of time as you can. When I changed my injectors, I had the turbo off in probably a couple hours max and probably about the same to get the other one back on. So, depending on how it goes for you, you are probably looking at half a day to a days worth of work. I used extensions with a universal from the bottom with the tire off to get at mine.

my turbo came right off when i changed my injectors and glows this time last year. That's with 150k+ in the oversalted new england winters as well.
You can you PB blaster on them if they are being stubborn.
What you go with for a turbo is up to you. Some have done modifications to fit an HX-35 or WH1C off a Cummins, some have the Specially Designed ***, and others have the stock turbo(gm-x).

Nope, just the wheel and the little splash guard thingy on the inner fender.
