I have a 2003 duramax. i just got efi live. i have no idea how to use it. i have a stock trans so i dont want to hurt it. i would like to make it lope smoke good and have about 100HP. if i could get some good info that would be cool. and what can i do to my trans to help beef it up.

Also look at the McRat 20/20 tune. It's a good starter tune and if you do like his directions say it will give you a little lope at idle.

Here's a script I made for the 20/20 tune. It doesn't come in with more fuel until higher up to keep the lope out at idle and I reduced the low RPM timing to keep the rattle out at idle. Download your stock tune and then run this script over it. It will give you a noticeable difference once you get into it. I'm no tuner though so it's just a starter tune that I came up with off of the McRat 20/20 tow tune.

Once you learn how to flash tunes to your truck you can look around in here, but use them at your own risk.

Thanks for the help. I have a superchip and i like it but sometime the trans does not like it so much. I was told that you cand get some kind of 5 way switch for the efi live for diffrent settings. do you know where i can get that. also when i said i dont know anything about efi i mean nothing. How do i get started i tryied to go to the duramaxtuner.com but you have to pay to enter. anyone have any ideas.

Best way to learn is to read start reading posts, make small adjustements, log and review the results. The stickys at the top of the EFI Live section here are very informative.

DSP5 (switchable tunes) switches can be bought through many of the vendors here on the site. Guy @ SoCalDiesel.com, Nick @ DuramaxTuner.com ...

Check out a few of the tunes in the library here, be careful many of them can hurt a stock Alli. You'll probably have to script most of them to your OS, but there is a thread at the top of the EFI Live section on how to do that.

His website says it will be back up next week after his site upgrade for the tutorials section.

Heres some info here on this site.

Just remember that EFILIVE is NOT a premade tuner. It is VERY powerful if used properly, or can be VERY destructive if used improperly. I'm also a newbie to EFILIVE, but if you check out my sig you'll see what some reading here can do for you(the last video is a 20/20 with some other stuff thrown in I found here).

This one was actually a 20/20 with the timing tables set using the 50% with the timing calculator. I also added more initial fuel in the MAF tables and some to the base throttle quantity. The tune you wrote me I put into my DSP2 because it runs so smooth and smoke free. Also it has REAL nice low EGT's and responds very well with the modified MAF tables in the main tables. I figured it would be an ideal towing tune as it is soft to bring the power in and pulls so strong up high. I'm going to reduce the MAF tables a little to reduce some of the smoke and smooth out the base throttle to give me more throttle control. I'm still learning when it comes to this and figure the only way to learn is to try it out. I REALLY appreciate any help I can get in helping with the learning curve, and the search button is an INVALUABLE tool.

ON EDIT: the script I put in was just a McRat 20/20 tune, I thought you were asking about the video I refferenced.

Did you ever get your trans tune figured out ? that tune will change once it is getting proper torque being comanded from the tcm , if you notice your logs it wont command the propper MM3 untill like 2600-2700 rpm . none of the other ECM limmiters were stopping it from fueling that i could see , if you log "base torque" you will see what i meen . I caught it from whating which tables it highlighted when i reviewed the log and watched what torque cells it was referencing for the TLIQ table and looking at what pulse width cell it was refrencing in the lower rpm's .

Not yet, I'm waiting for BRAYDEN to get a spare TCM so he can send me an updated one to try out. I went out today and set up that PID to see what commanded torque was and I seen it was being held WAY back. I cheated and went into the torque limiting table and added fuel to get it to run at full power until I can get the TCM issue resolved.
