I have searched this forum and done a lot of reading about this subject but there are still a few things I have not been able to find good enough answers on.
First, the optic sensor is on the high pressure injection pump but where? You have to take out some bolts to get to it? Details, details...
Also, I'd think the injection pump would be the same on a van and a pickup. What do you think? I bet it's in a different place though.
I hope I wasn't lazy about the searching and am asking questions that have already been asked. :Get_him:

Injection pump is at the front of the engine just below the water x-over, just under the front of the intake, there's a tall cylinder on the top of it and a black box on the drivers side of it. To get at the optic sensor you have to pull the top cover off the pump, could be pretty involved in a Van set-up like yours but i haven't seen one in a Van yet.

Thanks CanadianRigger. As long as the pump isn't in too dificult of a location, it sounds like a pretty easy modification!

...Have any of you guys ever worked on a Savana? Optic bump would take probably a half hour, after you got good at it, and I wouldn't reccommend it to the average owner to try on one.

Well, I've looked at the van in depth and I don't think the pump is near the front of the motor on vans. What exactly does the injection pump look like? Any ideas of another place it might be?

That's a pain that it's so hard on a van. I'm getting 4.4mm at LI and my pyro temps and boost are up. ~Go figure.

It sits in the same spot on a van, right in the valley, you will have to remove the air filter box and that long plastic intake tube to the turbo, and that can be a pain.
Once you get the top cover of the pump off, the next problem is how your going to be able to see what your working on.

Yeh, but science without reason makes no sense......................;)
That guy appears to be holding the microwave device often used to time the 6.5, after it leaves the factory................

Thanks! I'll have to think about this one for a while and decide if I want to do this. My main motivation for trying this would be a fuel economy gain but since only some notice a gain in this area, maybe I'll hold off.
