Well I finally did it, I painted my truck myself. I debated a long time whether to do it myself or pay the big bucks and have it done professionally. I came to the conclusion to take the money for the professional paint job and put it to the cost of equipment which I can use for other projects. It turned out better than I expected, I found plans to build a Hugh air compressor for under $300. and I found professional grade, high quality automotive paint cheap, a one gallon kit at Trinity 1945 Inc, for under $100. I used a Campbell Hausfeld gravity feed HVLP spray gun that I found on ebay brand new for $25.
All in all I saved a lot of money doing it myself, the paint job came out great and best of all I ended up with a heavy duty air compressor for my garage. Anyone interested in building this air compressor free plans with great pictures is available at www.dept.150m.com click on the Build an Air Compressor link.
P.S. I hope to post some new photos soon, the current photos don't do justice.
