Anyone got a tried and true means to replace the fuel filter on the '94 and newer 6.5 TD? By that I mean a a means that one can be relatively assured that after the change there won't be an air lock?

Also, who offers and aftermarket filter system that can be mounted on the fender-well and replace the OEM filter ? I know Lube Specialists offers a CAT filter system that uses a spin-on filter - I have one in my Jetta TDI - but the Jetta fuel filter is already on the fender-well.

Thanks.

if you turn the key on without trying to start after the filter change, a good lift pump would then prime it for you. i've also filled the cavity with a squeeze bottle thru the bleed hole after filter change and that worked out well.

You should purge the filter bowl when your finished to insure you don't get any crap that dropped when you took the old one out. Open the brass drain T into a bottle then bleed the air. Jump the LP relay for power.

I use my Mityvac for this; makes it a snap.
