I have a competition cheater system for a gasser just laying around, its a plate system. My question is can I use this on my truck? All i need is the nitrous line and solenoid correct. The end that goes into the plate that the NOS line hooks to is like a 1/4 pipe thread and takes the jet. So would i just have to put a 1/4 pipe thread into my manifold or buy a SD manifold and screw the piece from my plate into the manifold. Would this work???? Thanks

Id stay away from Nitrous on a diesel, though many guys use it around here. It absolutely slaughters reliability on a diesel. I put an old kit i had on my tractor, made crazy power but blew the motor quick.

Don't know about the durability part of it first hand yet, but a good number of people are running it plus propane and other drugs at the track and the Duramax's seem to be holding up. Haven't heard of anyone breaking a motor at the track yet.

Besides it's not like your going to run N20 all the time, just for the ocassional ricer :whip:

Talk to SD he should have the parts you might need to complete the system you have.

yeah, i know. Im kinda old school when It comes to NOS. I have no expierence with it on a Duramax, but i know if you get too carried away with it on any motor your going to break somethin.

I guess it wouldnt be too bad to use it just be careful, its a pretty expensive motor to be messin with, but if you have the $$ to fix it, then what the he!! go for it!

I run the SD kit, it works great and is a straight forward install. SD can probably sell you parts and/or a manifold, send him a PM with what you have and I am sure he can assist you with what you will need to complete your install.

I have never run NOS on mine. However, it does seem to like nitrous just fine.

Any power adder used in a stupid fashion can break an engine. Nitrous when tuned properly is a safe and effective power adder.

N2O is fine if used in moderation IMO.

You will need to take the line going into your plate from your noid and a fan spray nozzel

and a few jets. This would be a cheap set up using your existing stuff. If you want to make as much power as possible then you will need to do something else. A superdiesel manifold makes instaltion a snap or you could drill and tap your manifold or some remove the air intake heater and squirt there. There are a ton of different ways of activating your spray but you dont want to spray unless your at WOT. superdiesel can hook you up with hobbs switches, WOT switches, just activating it manualy......

NOS can be used on the Duramax with no damage if the kit is set up properly. The correct jetting is very important and in some cases a dual or tripple shot system may be necessary. We have been installing NOS on the Duramax since 2002 and have not had an engine failure.

Couldn't you just run a dry kit and tap it into the intake track? I have a 6.5L turbo diesel and I am thinking of just using my dry kit on my diesel. Do yall see a prob with doing this? I mean you shouldn't need to add any more fuel cause you are already running rich! lol So is there any reason I couldn't use my dry kit and shot like a 100 shot?

Nitrous on a diesel is a dry shot & it gets shot post turbo.

That is what I thought and I could never figure out why every one was trying to sell diesel kits for so much more money than gas burner kits!

I think it is marketing, but I am probably wrong.

CountryCoach, I have not torn into a 6.5, but from what i've heard you have to be very careful with them in stock form due to cylinder pressures being insane from the factory, a figure of 22MPa comes to mine. I'm sure someone else can shed more light on that for you.

Yea I know it is high so that is why I am going to stick to a 100 shot. I mean bully dog sells a 150 shot and a two stage 250 shot so I figured a regular dry 100 shot should be safe! I should have plenty of fuel for the extra air seeing as how it really black smokes now!
