: Chatter is back at acceleration!!!
BigWill_21 05-16-2005, 10:04 PM When pulling out on street and accelerating I get CHATTER at the top of each gear RPM wise before all upshifts from 2-5...
Under hood and if you slightly decrease pedal a hair you can keep it for at least 2-3 seconds!!!!
Doesn't matter if the Engine is warm or not nor what level the Edge is in!!!
Anyoen ahve experience with this Chatter???? Sounds almost like valves are slapping... I CANT FIGURE A BETTER WAY TO DESCRIBE IT!!!!
ANY IDEAS!! BTW: Still gettign 12.5 MPG even in Level 3 x 1 driving like grandma, NO CODES!!!! At 15,500 Mi.

briano 05-17-2005, 09:10 PM I think I know the sound you are talking about.. disable the edge and see if its still there. As the truck leans out getting more power from programmers this sound will get louder.

JhnZ71 05-17-2005, 10:57 PM Mine makes the exact same sound under a hard acceleration shift, I think its the wastegate opening and the valve ratteling.
JhnZ71 05-17-2005, 10:59 PM You know BigWill , my truck is acting the same way with the bad mileage driving like grandpa. I think its the injectors, check your oil for being overful or diesel in it.
Could it be a bad tank of diesel?
I had the chatter, even while coasting down the off ramps, and accelerating or cruising at any rpm. This went on for a month or 2. Told my wife during a trip to central Texas that i was taking it in when we get back. filled up before we headed home and never heard the chatter again.
I also had the ticking noise. Both issues were resolved at about 15k
Bluedieselride 05-18-2005, 10:50 AM Mine did the same thing bad milage and all. It's 2004.5 lly has about 15k on it. Took it in to the dealer and it hade loose clamps on the turbo (sucking air) and put in new cal file runs great and milage is back to 18mpg from 11.:)

Kennedy 05-18-2005, 11:18 AM The rattle you describe sounds like the transition from Edge timing to stock timing. Edge does not alter the timing at the very bottom so there is a transition. What you are hearing is the factory timing or so I am told.
If you had a PSD 6.0 (stock even) you would hear the timing change dramatically for the worse immediately upon moving the pedal off of 0%. This is said to be the pilot turning off.
Bluedieselride 05-18-2005, 12:21 PM Big will21? i will ask what cal file was used and look up what clamps were tightened. The mech. said when it sucks air it is leaned out that causes it to put more fuel in the combustion chamber. That is why the bad mpgs. Runs alot better I can even break the tires loose again. The idle is smoother and the engine is quieter also.
