These are VERY similar tires...
Has anyone tried both to compare?
How long are they lasting?
Which offers better traction?

Not that it mattes much in but, I am looking at both in 275 65 20 in an E load range. I have a set of Nittos now, and wasn't impressed by the life, I tow a lot and will get about 25,000 out of them - they are D load range and i will be going to an E load range.

I have a set of Toyo Open country A/T's. I've been very happy with them. I have about 30k on them with about 40-50% left. They do good pulling my 19,000 pound RV. I'll buy another set.

I believe they are actually owned by the same parent company. Should be the same thing just differnt brands.

I was Told The Toyos will Last longer. they use natural rubber.

The Terra Grapplers use synthetic rubber which im told wears quicker.

Im going to try Toyos next time, as my terra grapplers did wear quick, but for the money they look/perform great.

I put many miles on both with the 02'. Towing heavy on occasion, and always running big tunes. The Toyos and Nittos both wore quickly for me, but the last set of Nittos have, and are still wearing very well. Before this set you could only get the D range, but these are E's, and for whatever reason they are lasting very well. As another option, I have the Hankooks on the 09', and like them better than both of the above so far. They are smooth, less noisy, and ride great. Too few miles to comment on the wear though.

Hmm, might have to try the "E" rating this time around!

Dad ran the nittos and they wore fast. We run alot of gravel roads and the nittos were ate up in no time. I liked the look but wanted a better tire and went with the toyos in the same size. Seem to be doing ALOT better than the nittos. Only 10K on them so far but still look like brand new......Dad has even commented on how much better they are and he will be running them for his next set.

The Toyos on my old ride look fine even after 28K miles. I was told that the Nittos have a softer compound thus they wear faster.

What they said.... both are good tires, the Nittos are louder going down the road. Toyos have virtually no road noise

I have the Toyo's but can't seem to get great life out of them (about 15-20k), on my second set now. They are quiet though and I like the look of them.

That's about what i got with the two sets of Toyos I had. These E rated Nittos may double that....Still liking these Hankooks too....

I've had 3 sets of Nittos, 2 sets of Toyo's. The Toyo's did a better job in the snow and ice than the Nittos did, but the Nitto's weren't that much off after I sipped them. They both lasted about 45K miles, so they are equal in he wear dept. The price was the key factor, and the Nitto's were $50 less a tire, so I've went with the Nitto's the last 3 times.

Thinking back...I did have the Toyos when the power was new...so probably beat on them more. So I think this about sums it up. More money left for other accessories.;)I've had 3 sets of Nittos, 2 sets of Toyo's. From Rimzoneonline the Toyo 285/65/18 E is actually $10 cheaper then the Nitto 285/65/18 E. I think I might get the Toyo then!

i have open countries, they are looking great after almost 10k on them or so. Toyo is the premium brand, Nitto is the bargain brand.
