hello fellas, i came across this website in hopes i could be enlightened a litte on gm diesels. im looking to trade a fella this weekend possibly for a 1994 2500 6.5td, manual transmission, 4x4 and was hoping somebody may be able to tell me a few things to look for when i see this truck this weekend and be aware of. my background in trucks has mostly been older mopars but i been wanting a diesel and good truck when this gentleman made the offer to trade for my current truck. also if anyone could tell me or point me in the direction of what kind of gears this truck should have and what kind of transmission and t-case could be in it i would appreciate it. thanks

Also,
The gears will most likely be 3.73s or 4.10s. And the transmission would be a NV4500

Those are the FAQ's. They are a sticky on the 6.5 forum, and an excellent resource, along with the search function.

As far as gear ratio and such, being a K2500, I'd assume that it had 4.10 or 3.73:1 from the factory. You can tell by the RPO codes. Transmission will be an NV4500. Not sure exactly of transfer case, but, IIRC, it may be an NP241, though I'm not positive if the 3/4 tons got those or not.
