Is the coolant in a '94 Dex-Cool, or regular ethelyne glycol (sp) ?

What do you figure the odds are that a 'conversion' was made regular to Dex, or Dex to regular when the head gaskets were replaced 6 months ago - before I owned the vehicle?

In 94, green was all that was used...Some 95 models came with dexcool and some didn't.(at least on the car side of gm).Depending on the plant, perhaps?
I would be surprised if someone switched to dexcool from the green.

I run dexcool in all of my diesels, including my old 6.5's and 6.2's and even in my cummins. Dexcool doesn't like plastic gaskets, our diesels don't have any! Even my new grasshopper mowers come with factory dexcool fills with the kubota diesel. The real good thing is no silicates. On all of the engines that I have ran dexcool in, upon tear down, they have spotless water jackets and radiator fins, and that is good enough for me.:grd:

Um... my 00 was dexcool, the water x-over looked like the surface of the moon. I just put in new but thought that odd for only a 5 year old truck.

I've been running dex cool in my 95 since upgrading the cooling system, but after the reading I've been doing on the class action lawsuit against GM about daxcool eating aluminum I will probably change back to the green stuff.

I have never witnessed the corosion on aluminum yet with dexcool, but I have seen lot's of coroded aluminum with the green stuff. Probably boils down to doing a ph test. If any type of coolant becomes acidic it will destroy metal.
