truck is in my sig (k&n is filter only).

i wanna place a bet with a friend that buzzes around in an '02 bmw m3 to go down at a 1/4 mile track. i think he is 13.3 seconds, but he talks like he is unbeatable.

what would i have to do?

i'm thinking
1) stack something with edge juice
2) remove some weight (big rear bumper & spare)
3) proper tires
4) tranny (if one big pass is a guaranteed suicide to stocker)

all i need is a hundredth of a second.

of course, if i do this once, i'm sure i'll have a new hobby, so no.... i'm not spending all this money on the tranny just for one pass. but... i think i can make at least a grand off him, and he might give me odds.

Edit: I see that you dont mid a trany upgrade. It wont make it a pass.

Trans, Xtreme, liftpump. That would put you into the bottom 13's easy without worrieng about shaving weight.

A cheaper soulution would be getting a quad to stack with your juice. That should get you there with the other mods listed.

that sounds like guaranteed suicide to the stock tranny then.

any thoughts on where a guy could be if he does mods 1-4?

Oh, shocks and clamping the springs for a cheap/easy solution. Some superdiesel sleeves would also be a good idea. What do you have for tires?

with a trans and a hot juice you should be in the mid-13's hooking good I would think. An Xtreme would put you at a bottom 13 EASY and more than likely an easy 12 second pass. A quad juice should put you into an easy low 13. Your regular juice is pretty cheap to upgrade to hot and would be a running mo fo.

nice.

so.... how good does it feel to beat a car like that and the guy that bought it?

Most times every body is out for a good time and its just about having fun, but when you get ahold of some guy thats all cocky and you beat em down its great! Especially when they are trying to act all cool like it dosnt bother em and they even make a few excuses.....

Sounds like it will be worth every penny though to woop up on him. ):h :grd:

At those times a tenth isnt much disance on the track.

I've created a name for myself around here though and its hard finding unsuspecting victims.

well, that's just it.... unsuspecting. he laughed at me when i told him i thought i was mid 14's if i had the sack to turn the dial up. we have a lot of friends in common and he is known as the fast car guy. it would be pretty sweet if my 3/4 ton truck was the asterick next to his title.

and it does sound like a lot of fun for a sport to get into. my son will be 16 in a couple years. imagine how excited he would be when he gets a chance to drag dad's truck.

Just check my SIG..........

With the right parts a 7200 lb truck can get into the 13.0X range fairly easy.

Ask the other guys here who are going deep into the 12's on Fuel and a little NOS...........

Amazing what these trucks can do.

honestly I'd love to see you beat this guy, but realistically he doesn't sound like the type that would simply concede a loss. He will probably say, well yeah you had this and that on your truck. But beat him down the track and let him suck black smoke the whole way.

that is what is so cool about our trucks. he went to the dealer and wrote a check for 80k, and we have to get under the hood and the chassis with a wrench to get all the goods installed and dialed in, and when we change our oil, we need 12 quarts. his little m3 was built to go fast, ours was built to go tough and we wrench it to go fast. :ro)

Well we really don't have to "wrench" on the motor. Just the trans. With a little obedience training, I think my dog could perform the engine mods to our trucks.):h

very true slick the mods are fairly simple. The hardest part is using them with the correct amount of moderation.

Monkey I agree he did drop nearly double the cost of our trucks into his m3, and he really isn't much faster, if not slower. Also no matter what we do to our trucks to outrun him, at the end of the day we could still load his ass up on a trailer when it breaks down, and still turn awesome times in the quater mile.

I hope you really put it to him Monkey. That would really cool if you could make him eat his words.

I know a cheap way to beat that M3. Get a Juice w/Attitude and/or Predator and turn it up. Invite him to a stop light to stop light drag against your SLOW diesel. Do a 4x4 boost launch and you will eat him alive between stoplights.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/smashfreakB.gif That will give him a taste of what he will get after you mod your tranny and take him to the quarter with a tts extreme program in it!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/anitoof.gif It is cheap entertainment. You can even leave the stock exhaust on. Make sure you get a pyro. if you go the Predator route. It runs hot on level 5!! Good luck.

you think so? why would i be able to get him on a stoplight now, but not in the quarter mile?

what i do know is that he is stock and rated for 13.3 quarter, which is faster than my estimated 14's - with juice attitude.

i have not buried the foot in 4 or 5 for enough that would be even a stoplight race. i've only gone for a little taste to see response. wouldn't a stoplight race be too tough on a stock tranny with a programmer set to 5?

I'm still amazed of what these trucks can do for what they are... Thats why I bought one. If someone asked me how to get a gasser car in the 11s, I could tell you how for about $4500.00 in engine and trans mods. These trucks however, I'm still in elementary school... (Still have lots to learn)! I love reading all the success stories at this forum, (gets the wheels turning). I can't wait until the transmission mod money has been saved up... then the fun begins!

Are low 14s possible with the stock trans? If so what mods are needed

Edge juice, exhaust & intake mods another thing that helps is weighing somewhere around 6500 lbs

There's nothing like going straight to the staging lights while the other guy is melting away some rubber and then you dismember him all the way down the track... Feels gooood...
