Hopefully the mods will leave this in here instead of moving to the general brake section. I have seen some of y'all complaining about the dually brakes, so I thought I would share my recent improvement. I bought my dually with the rear brakes completely shot. I had them replaced around 20,000 miles ago with all GM stuff.

Even with all new brakes, my pedal got increasingly softer. So on my trip to Danville a couple weeks ago, I had them checkout the brake system. The rotors/pads still looked great and they flushed the fluid, still had a mushy pedal.

The fix? Braided SS lines. Turns out the stock lines were expanding under the pressure. Now the pedal feels as good as my wife's '99 WS6.

So just an FYI for y'all to checkout.

Where did you get the SS braided lines? Also how much where they? I know mine need to be replaced but I can't find any for the truck around here.

So, just to help in the "make your dually's brakes better" thread:

#1 Ensure proper fit (looseness of the pads, they should damned near fall out)
#2 Ensure proper lubrication of the slide hardware (and ensure it is corrosion free and slide freely)
#3 Ensure there is no air in the system by bleeding the brakes, followed by a gravel road panic stop, from 10 mph, to ensure the ABS responds correctly (which will prove the ABS valve(s) system is air free when the pedal doesn't drop during activation).
#4 When all of the above is correct and true, upgrade the brake hoses.

Am I right?

PS...... Bleeding of the brakes when changing the lines can require a special procedure if air travels back up the line or the reservoir runs dry. Air entry and the need to remove it can be verified by the test in #3 above and should also include proper feel during any stop.
