Hard to believe how many threads i searched through and didn't find the answer, Is the stock wheels on my 09' close to even, negative, or positive? I will run 285/70/17 on 17x9" wheels, close to level with stock keys. If anything i would'nt mind the wheels coming out an inch or so from stock. Thanks.

Thanks. That's what my stockers are then?

No.... But what I think he is saying is you need to subtract about 5-10mm offset to make your wheels stick out further... so if you are at +28 you need +18 to +23 offset and they will stick out further... this does also depend on wheel width/backspacing... more on this below...
The stock wheels if I remember correct are about +28 offset so the wheels are sucked in...
A negative offset moves the wheel out of the wheel well
A positive offset moves it in further towards the engine
If you find a wheel with about +15 offset and backspacing around 5.25" you should be ok... there's a lot to think about when picking a wheel and BELIEVE ME it is difficult :D
Check out http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp it is a comparison tool so you can compare your stock wheels to the new wheels you are thinking about...
You have to consider width of the wheel, offset, and backspacing when you're picking a wheel. A 8.5" wheel and a 9" wide wheel with the same offset will have different backspacing... thats why you can not only go off of one number.
Hummer wheels are popular and they fit with the tire size you want. they are 8.5" wide and +18mm offset. I think the backspacing is somewhere around 5.4". I had these with a 285/70/17 on my truck with a slight crank of the torsion bars and they fit and looked great.
If you pick a wheel similar to the Hummer wheels they will fit just fine. Hope this helps... if you have more questions just ask... :D

Thanks for that..more research to follow I can see. It was alot easier with the 02'. Had more room, and there was info on exactly which specs worked on those trucks. Even though alot of talk on the NBS, not exact specs. that are working for others.
I know the H2 wheel is working for others...just not a fan of that wheel. Right now I like the Moto Metal 951 and 55...I know the offset is -12MM, but will have to look up the back space...seem to remember 4.5"?

Those will work but not without some major mods... I think they are 9" wide and 4.5" backspace is more than I have... check out my pics of the new wheels on my truck... yours would stick out about .5" further with 4.5" backspacing on a 9" wide wheel...
They might fit but it's going to take some major fender mods... I had to take a sawzall to my inner fenders to clear out some space for these 33's...
I would say try to find another wheel or go to a different diameter if you REALLY like the wheel... a different size (18" or 20") might have different backspace/offset and would fit better...
On second thought I just looked and all I can find (quickly) is that they only come in -12mm offset/4.53" backspacing... With a 285/70/17 these would be difficult to fit...
Oh this brings back memories...it seemed like I would find a wheel but the specs would be off every time... Just keep looking... if you don't plan on lifting it those wheels surely will not fit without some "help".

Capflya is correct. You have to know what backspacing you can run first and then the rest is figured after that. I have a 6" Fabtech lift which only allows 4.5"-5" backspacing depending on wheel diameter, which means on wider wheels equates to a negative offset which unfortunately is detrimental to bearings and front ends.

Well that figures. I was playing with that calculator, and it looks to me I will need to stick with a 8.5" wheel if I'm looking at this right. Can't see why that extra .5" will make or break. Is the stock wheel 8" wide... still know too little about the new ride, though i find it easy to throw the check book at it....

The stock 17" x 7.5" wheel option is 5.5" backspacing on my 2009 Sierra. I want to go with a 17 x 8 wheel with the stock 265/70-17 tires but don't know if a wheel with 5" backspacing will be enough clearance on the rear fender liner without rubbing.
I am looking at the American Racing Assault and the KMC Spy wheels but would like to find someone who has these already installed to see if they would fit without rubbing.
