I got my new '05 dooley about a month ago,and a few of the guys at work noticed a dent in my hood.It is very hard to see(I didnt notice it for a week until they showed me)and you have to know where to look for it.I took the truck back to the dealer and he was shocked but said it looks like an imperfection in the metal when they made the hood at the factory. It is a new hood for '05.We walked the lot and sure enough we found at least 5or6 trucks with the same dent but in differnt places on the hood. These trucks arrived on different days and on different trucks, which leads me to believe that this is a factory problem and not damage that was done on the way to the dealer, but I really dont know.I even saw an '05 on the road this weekend and it had the dent too. I dont know if I should have them try to fix it(they will probably screw it up worse)or just let it go.Like I said it is really hard to see,but I know its there and it pisses me off!Has anybody else with an '05 noticed this? The truck has to be clean to really see it,it is tough to find in the rain or if the truck is really dirty.Although I did see a white one on the lot whos dent was bigger and more noticeable then mine(my truck is red)Thanks for any feedback. Not that this helps any, but I had a 2000 silverado that had a factory dent in the hood.

Thanks a lot gilltred :o: Now I'm worried about mine. Once I wash it again I'll look at mine closely. So where exactly is yours? You said it was hardly noticeable - can u take a pic? Stuff like that bothers me too. U don;t see it but know it's there. Have it fixed. Depending on where it is and if it's not creased, those dent removal places really do a fantastic job. In most cases you'll never know it was there.

Hey denali02,I wouldn't worry about yours because my truck is a chevy. The hood stayed the same on the gmc's from 04 to 05 I think.Duckhunter, what did you end up doing about your dent?As for unclefester I will posts pics asap.

its a truck! if the dent is so small that you didnt notice it, then its obviously not a glaring defect. its gonna get dented and scratched up anyways, at least it will if you use it like a truck! just think of it this way.......now you dont have to worry about getting the first dent!

I carried it to the dent doctor place and they could not fix it because they said it was formed that way from the factory, and they could not get the metal to re-form into a shape it had never been in before....or something to that effect.

I never got it fixed, although it was a pretty big dent. It was a large, shallow dent, about the size of a football. But it really didn't look that bad. It would have looked worse if it was a smaller, sharper dent.
