: horn wire? for train horn set up
wewers8 08-18-2009, 11:04 AM im gong to install the shocker horn kit from horn blaters but i need to know where i can find the easiest place to access the factory wirning harness for the horn and what color the wire is to tie into, and any other usful info would be much appericated. and the wire feeding the compressor does it need to come from the battery are what? i really dont want this unit running unless the key is on.
diesail 08-18-2009, 11:08 AM why not remove it from the horn itself under the hood
Balls2go 08-18-2009, 11:16 AM I think it's better to hook the train horns to a separate horn button. That way you still have the factory horn to use to wake old ladies up at green lights........

In the heat of the moment, it's very difficult to find the seperate horn button when your first train of thought is to mash the steering wheel
wewers8 08-18-2009, 11:22 AM yeah i wanna keep the factory horn but just flip a switch and hit the steering wheel again a the tran horn is working, see what im saying, have a switch to determine which horn honks
twinturbo3150 08-18-2009, 11:27 AM once you hit the train horn you will giggle and have a smile from ear to ear, you should make the train horn your main horn and wire the factory horn to a switch
DMax Driver 08-18-2009, 03:18 PM IMO you will want to be able to choose between the regular horn and the train horn. I have a seperate horn switch for my train horn set up, plus I put in a power switch for the compressor. The compressor only works if the ignition and the switch are both on. I wanted to make sure I could shut the compressor off if the system developed a leak or something.

Good luck & enjoy!

gearhead 08-18-2009, 10:13 PM I put in a relay under the underhood fuse box, I think it is a green wire. and I use a switch to switch the relay from stock to train horns. I used a ignition switched feed to power the switch so when the truck is off and I lock the doors it only honks the stock horns.
wewers8 08-20-2009, 06:04 PM anymore words of wisdom it should be here tommorrow
mcreech 10-07-2009, 06:31 PM Which kit did you order? Tank and compressor size? I am about to order some also...
wewers8 10-08-2009, 12:34 PM bought mine from horn blaster the shocker 400 i think is what he called it. 2 gallon tank loud horns and everything to do it with
2003GrnMonster 10-09-2009, 12:10 PM I used a fuse tap out of the underhood fuse box. Ran that wire to the switch inside the cab and then to the horn solenoid. Make sure you tap out of the side that is protected by the fuse. Use a meter or testlight and with the fuse out, determine which side is "in" and which side is "out" of the fuse.
frank71 10-11-2009, 07:39 PM good horn switch to install! napa.com item #bk7002439 remote starter switch.
mcreech 10-11-2009, 11:17 PM Just installed mine this weekend, and I would definitely go with a seperate button
