I own a 2004 2500HD GMC truck, SLT. The original mirrors are electric folding, they have the turn arrow, heater and of course, they are electronically controlled.
I purchased here, through one of the memmbers, a set of 2 power extending camping mirrors for 04 model truck. Installing them was no problem, I took a sheet of paper with instructions as to what a GMC tech would have to do in order to flash the system, to make them work properly. The GMC tech said that it can't be done, due to the fact that my truck doen't have some kind of mirror switch. I explained to him that I thought If they flashed the system with the info I provided, that the rocker switch would extend and retract the mirrors. He said he called tech support and they said no.
Can someone please give me the codes or steps needed so I can give the info to the GMC tech?
Thanks, Andy.

I have never done the swap. So not real sure.
When you put the selector switch for selecting the right or left mirror in the center, does the adjustment switch light up in the center?

I'll let you know when I get home. I was able to extend the mirrors with the selector switch, not the mirror adjustment, only extend not retract.

Some customers/dealers have inquired about the new power folding, electrochromic, outside rear view mirrors (RPO DL3), and if they can switch to the new power extending outside camper style mirrors (RPO DPF)? The answer is yes, however, the dealer must also reprogram both the drivers door module and the passenger door module to accommodate this change. Also, if the vehicle has redundant steering wheel controls, the DIC (Driver Information Center-Curb view assist message) must be deleted by reprogramming the truck body control module (TCBM).

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
