So about a year ago I upgraded to an alpine cd deck and had to get all the little gizmos to get the steering wheels buttons to work and such. Now about 2 months ago I started getting a whine through my speakers on hard acceleration. It sounds like the passenger front speaker or tweeter, but its hard to tell if its not all the speakers. So I searched and saw all the posts saying to check grounds and use seperate ones so I did that today and that made no change. Then I unplugged the pass front speaker and tested it and found no change.

Any idea on whats causing the whine, I can't think of anything that Ive changed in the last fews months and can only thing done to truck has been all the glow plugs got replaced. Its a 04 Ext Cab with bose. Only thing aftermarket is the cd deck.

How old are your batteries? Have you had your alternator tested? Checked your grounds under the hood since you had work done? Checked your battery cables?

Short list to start checking on first.:p:

I havent replaced the batterys, or the alternator in the two years ive owned the truck, but I havent ever had any starting or dead battery problems. All the grounds are tight and the battery cables are tight.

Factory bats? If so. The alternator whine could be the starting tale of your bats getting ready to start their death spiral. Have alt tested, it could be spiking or dropping voltage under heavy load or high rpm. Also, sometimes when the rectifer diode starts to die, it allows the alt to push out AC voltage which does nasty stuff to DC electronics. Been there, done that, have a pile of dead amps.

I agree w/ hillbilly...sounds like shorted speaker wire. If you have a meter, pull the radio and check ohms between the speaker leads and ground. It should read open every where. It is also possible that you have a radio failure.
