I currently have stock exhaust pipes with a Flowmaster muffler.
Would adding another 3-1/2" pipe system spliced before the muffler (engine side) lower EGTs enough to make it cost effective. An exhaust cutout is cheap for a splicer, though the extra piping and muffler may not be.
Any thoughts ?

I have the MBRP duals and I really like it. It can be tough to fit on some trucks but it will fit. I love the sound. It has a great sound outside the truck and only on the higher RPM’s can you tell something is up from the inside. It is not an inexpensive kit, but you don’t have to invent something that is already available.

I am thinking of price for adding a splice and 1 side of exhaust vs the complete kit. I Might not even add a muffler on the other side.
However, my goal is to lower EGTs, if the idea will work.

Hey, just breakdown and buy a good 5" system! One 5" system has more volume than dual 3.5".
A man of your worth should be putting on dual 5"!!!:muahaha:

Yea right,
And.... area of a circle = .... hm you are right sir ! 5" is more area than 2 3-1/2" pipes. However, IMO the 5" exhaust is an over kill untill we change out our down pipe. Even the 4" MBRP exhaust is more than I'm talking about by adding one side. Also, I have from reliable sources that there is little to none ET improvement in the 1/8th mile with a 4" system over a muffler change only.
I would like EGTs to be lower though should I decide to pull a little.
Max,ya settled on a chip yet ?
(There is a local diesel GTG scheduled for next month.)

I'm leaning towards the VA 0-70-110. I would have bought it already, but I opted for TTT mirrors instead. Builing up my mad money account as we speak (except I need tires).
I borrowed Silver Bullets Quad and ran with it for a few days. I pulled my 5er with the 90 HP tune loaded. Pulls really well. The only issue was the surge at 1800-2000 RPMs. With the handshaker, the surge was pretty bad. I had to use the darn clutch to shift...and that ain't gonna work.
Before I gave it back to SB, I loaded the 110 tune. Man did that thing smoke!!! It ran like a spotted ape though...I was impressed that the clutch didn't slip! It held the power really well.
See ya next month!!!

One thing I did not mention regarding duals, There would be more flow loss in friction with the dual 3-1/2" pipes vs 1 5" system due to pipe surface friction losss. There is 40% more surface area on the dual 3.5" pipes vs a single 5" system.
:blahblah:
I have no idea what the loss would actual be,
but my 6 cylinder Buick made 600 RWHP through a single 3" downpipe
Also, I will post this elsewhere, but the local ODRA diesel club GTG in the DFW area is scheduled to be held at Redline Raceway in Caddo Mills,Texas on June the 18th (Sat.). Come race or hangout, fun event.
