I have a 2007 LBZ Classic with around 35000 miles on it. My engine light just came on and I noticed that I am within 25 miles of the recommended oil change that the dealership put on my windshield. I previously had a 1500 gasser and the light came on after an oil change. The dealship told me to turn the ignition to the on position and quickly press the gas pedal 5 times and then go to the off position and then start the engine to see if the light went out. It did. Does anyone know if that type of engine light reset applies to the Duramax? Would it hurt something if I tried it?

I don't know about the '07, but my '06 shows a message in the DIC when the oil life monitor or the fuel filter monitor decides it's time to change them, not the check engine light. There is a section on resetting both monitors in the engine manual. I think it's to turn on the key and press the accelerator three times and turn off - ? That CEL may be something else, which reminds me I gotta get a code reader.

Thanks for the reply axlenut. The truck seems to be running just fine. I checked it today and the light was still on. I used the truck to pull a couple of stumps and now the light is out. Go figure. Well I will probably take it in to get it checked since it is still under warranty.

Even though my light went out I called the dealership, since it is still under warranty, and he said I could bring it in and they could check to see what code it threw but most likely they wouldn't change anything. So I did. It threw the code for the EGR valve found on many threads. They cleaned the EGR valve and of course undated my software package. I decided to see if it was fixed so I spent some time in the fast last. Fast starts and lots of random accellerations and it didn't take long for the light to come back on. Took the truck back and they replaced the EGR valve.
