I just picked up a new LMM today, i need to know if i can delete the cat and muffler, leave the dpf in of course...without getting codes. It made a big difference on my lbz but just want to know if this will make any differance on this truck, would like to get more turbo whistle. thanks!

You remove muffler but cannot remove the DOC or what you refer to as the CAT. DOC needed for the DPF to regen and not to regen as much. With DPF in not gonna get much of a whistle if any even with muffler off.

Ok thanks for the help i didnt realize that, so is it worth getting rid of the muffler then? I mean it has 3 things restricting it now, that is pretty bad. I would like to get rid of dpf but i dont want a angry dealer so its staying in. Would a 4 or 5'' dfp back exhaust help for power/fuel economy/sound?

I don't see much improvement doing a DPF back exhaust. Using a Banks module system and thier intake and exhaust system claims a few mpg better with DPF still present. Banks does not do DPF delete systems. I see no major increase in deep sound just doing DPF back 4 or 5 exhaust.

DPF back kits are mainly for looks as performance gains are minimal. Theres no reason in just deleting the cat on it either, the DPF is the problem.

getting rid of the dpf is the best option but i believe it will void your warranty...

I thought they claimed that if you just delete the muffler it would make the regans shorter by several minutes. But who know untill you try it for yourself.

Regens don't happen in the muffler - think about it..........

IMHO if you want to keep the warranty then Run the truck as is!
GM has the best After treatment system of the Big Three with little to No issues...

When you get ready to take stuff off do a Turbo back, with Deletes and a Programmer and you will be set to go....

Congrants on the New truck!!!

What did ya get a CC or EC short bed or Long what color :~)

black crew short box 2500 4x4 black cloth interior goin to do 3'' in the front and 1 or 1.5'' in rear, also aftermarket 17x8 chrome wheels with 285's. So far only 250 kms on it but its working good, doesnt have the power my stock lbz has but thats what u get from emissions, still like the truck alot though and its about the same on fuel. Why does the cat or doc as some call it have to stay in, what does it do for the DFP?

That's true!! But if there is a muffler it would help with some of the back pressure and i think I would burn a little faster without all the pressure. That's just what i figured on all this.

Ok, so what would happen if i cut the cat and muffler out and just kept the stock 3.5'' pipe. Does anyone know if i would get a check engine light, im not worried about how long it wants to regen, just would like to have less restriction and maby a lil more sound out of it.

I think you can remove the muffler and not get any codes but for as removing the Cat i would think that there would be some codes. Any people who have done the delete clam nothing or very very little sound change.

The DOC or cat cannot be deleted if you keep the DPF. It helps get the exhaust hot for the regen

Yeah mention DOC needed on LMM if DPF remained in post #2 above. Yeah got nearly 50,000 miles on mine and 30,000 has be DPF free. No issues. Only thing was after I did it the OS update came out. Took it in as is. It will throw a code when you reflash. No DPF installed. OK and flash update they did. When I got it back I went out there loaded the new OS update scripted tune over to new OS. UpLoaded new OS at the Dealer and drove away.

I would like to but my dads making the payments on this truck and im concerned if it was a factory lemon and get stuck paying for a engine or whatever. Im i knew it was as good as are other 2 lbz's i would but right now its gotta stay the way it is i guess. Tree huggers (eviromental minded ppl) ruined these trucks
