I need to replace the water pump on my '04 LLY and need to get my hands on a good repair manual.
Who makes a good manual and where can I get one?
Thanks,
Dennis

This is for an LB7 but yours is about the same.

Or, alldata.com for a paid subscription.

Don't forget the search function on these forums it can be your best electronic friend.

Yes it lists the complete build year. All what you have to do is tell them what year your truck is, since mine is an 04 it gave me info on all of 04 gas, diesel lb7 and LLY.

Ebay has some cd manuals on it that cover all the years. It looks like the factory one. When I ordered mine I had it in a couple days.

I'm also trying to find a manual with the most details and step by step direction. I do not want a manual that is 90% about a 1500 and 10% about 2500. So I sent Helmcs an email asking a few questions. Their anwser is in red. The DVD is $400 and the hardcopy is $135. I would love to see a sample of a manual before I buy it. Just to see the detail. I have a manual for my bike and it is all black and white with poor diagrams. Don't want that for my truck.

Is GMT03CK8PU the right manual for a 2500HD Duramax Diesel? Yes
Can I get this in hard and soft copy? V200803DVDRETAI is the service manual on DVD.
What is the Service Information DVD V200803DVDRETAI? The service manual which covers 1999-2008 GM models. The DVD and Hardcopy contains the same information.
What is the format of the soft copy (doc, pdf, etc?) PDF format.
Where can I see a sample of the Service Manual? Just one or two pages to see the type of detail in the manual. Unfortunately we do not have a sample of the service manuals

What year is your truck and can you give me an example of what you want and I'll take a picture of it.

They didn't make the dmax in 99 or 00 so it must have other info as well.

And that is why I would like to see what I am buying before I buy it. The concept that one manual will cover all 01-09 dmax and 99-09 gaser in detail is hard to believe. Because I'm a DIY (like most people here), I need the most step by step detail manual for my truck. I willing to pay the $$ for the best manual, becuse in the long run it will save me money everytime I don't go to the stealer. I assume that Helmic is the best (compare to Haynes), because the GM website links you to Helmic's website. So far I been lucky and all my questions have been answered in the forum.

Has anyone used the on-line help? http://www.alldatadiy.com/index.html

Helms makes the GM manuals and that is what the dealer mechanics use. No one else makes a hard copy manual. The full set runs about $150. :)

Hey!

Man I wish I would have had this info before buying mine. I will bet the Helmic is the same exact manual I paid $500.00 for. I bought the ACDELCO manual from all manuals .com. It is very complete and I like the trouble shooting portion. But I wish some one would chime in that has the helmic so we could save the next guy alot of trouble. The trouble with the search on this site is no one follows up with the final data so one can make an informed decision. I tried the search before I bought mine.
