: exhaust system questions
greenmtn. diesel man 05-15-2005, 12:00 PM this pinnacle 4" system from the auction site? where is it located? I have tried searches etc. cant' locate it. wanted to check it out. so far the 4" system from ss seems to de the best. any opinions?? I have been reading over this site every night for the past three or four months. very helpful.
strych919 05-15-2005, 02:10 PM I bought the pinnacle system from the auction but am a little dissipointed in the seller. I bought the system on 4/29 and am still waiting on delivery. my tracking number says it will arrive on 5/20. he also told me he mailed it when the tracking number said he didnt mail it for at least a week after he told me he did. (markoidaho) is the sellers name if you are interested. but if i had to do it again i would rather spent the extra 50 bucks with walt at ss. When i get the system this friday ill let you know how it is on monday since ill be spending the weekend putting it on the truck
I haven't seen the Pinnacle system on Ebay for a couple weeks now. But there number came with my kit 1-800-934-3569. My sytem arrived in about a week and a half. These guys aren't just distributors they make this stuff, this might explain the time delay. The Pinnacle is not only the least expensive system available for our trucks but it is of the highest quality construction, with excellent hangers that attach right to the factory hangers on the frame. They didn't have a kit for my Tahoe but I was able to use their system without too much modification. I haven't seen other systems, but I prefer to buy directly from the people who acctually make the products.
Dave 2001 05-15-2005, 05:32 PM I got one on my truck.. it does fit nicely. I got my one in 4 days. It does make the turbo spin faster quicker, but the exhaust noise is beginning to get to me. If you don't mind the noise then it's a great system.
strych919 05-15-2005, 05:56 PM MDT, I got a 94 blazer and am looking for a lift kit. wich kit did you get on your tahoe? all the kits i find say they wont fit diesel models.
customizedcreations 05-15-2005, 06:50 PM Strych919,

CanadianRigger 05-15-2005, 06:59 PM I"m getting bored with my D'max upgrade exhaust. I'm looking into putting on dual 3" or 4" stacks, maybe even add a couple of flappers for TD...lol
Greg C. 05-16-2005, 08:07 AM Is the Pinnacle 4" exhaust system with muffler louder than a 3" system without a muffler? I am wanting to get the Pinnacle exhaust but am concerned about a few post that complain about the noise. Friend has a 3" system no muffler that is not too bad, but for the money the Pinnacle seems the way to go, I just don't want to be spending extra later to quiet it down. 3" doesn't seem that much bigger than stock, so why not put down pipe on and cut muffler and cat out of stock system and use pipe. I would like to go back over the axle with the tailpipe.

steelydan 05-16-2005, 10:07 AM I have the Pinnacle on my truck. I do not find it too loud. It is about the same as my Old Suburban 350 with a 3" full flow muffler. Truck seems to run cooler, and mileage is up about 50-60km per tank full...good value in my opinion. Easy install.
Juancho 05-16-2005, 12:34 PM I bought a 4" exhaust for my ‘95 Burb from Pinnacle, and I am very pleased with the product. Overall I would have to say it is high quality and the price certainly was right.
I would buy another exhaust from them in a heart beat. In fact I tried, but they do not make an exhaust for my ’94 6.5TD, short wheel base Yukon.:-(

Hey Juancho...
Got Sawzall? Its EASY to modify a long exhaust to fit a short wheelbase truck. Its less easy to make a short exhaust fit a long truck.
You should be able to modify a shortbed 94 1500 exhaust to fit your yukon with little problem.

ChevyDave 05-16-2005, 02:09 PM I love my pinnacle exhaust!
greenmtn. diesel man 05-17-2005, 06:21 PM What exactly aree the specs for this thing? I've been doing a lot of reading on this site. Is the downpipe 3"? Did you install a mandrel crossover with this system? I am not worried about noise, just want to let her breathe.
ChevyDave 05-17-2005, 06:33 PM For my suburban the specs were as follows:
3" downpipe
3.5" from downpipe to trans crossmember
4" magnaflow muffler
4" all the way out back
fits all stock hangers with a little chrysler wrench (hammer) pursasion
crossover pipe not included.
CentralFLNative 05-18-2005, 10:06 PM I used SSDiesel's 4" kit. The hangers they supply do not fit my truck, so I bought a hanger kit fron Pinnacle ($15 + shipping). They pretty much worked on the SS kit. Had to heat and hammer the rear hanger a little, but was still easier than cutting and welding the factory hangers.
I could not be happier with the exhaust noise inside the truck. Normal driving you can barely tell the difference inside the cab. It gets LOUD under heavy accelleration. Sounds great, plus you can hear the turbo through the exhaust the entire time.
Went on a road trip this last weekend and was fine at highway speeds with the A/C on. My kids (2 & 4 years old) and wife still fell asleep, so the cabin noise obviously wasn't bad.
Dave 2001 05-18-2005, 10:18 PM I should rephase my statement about it being too loud.. When my truck is empty it's fine. Not much louder than stock, but when I pull my travel trailer up hills (here in BC we got big ones) my truck kicks down a gear and revs up to about 3000 rpm. If I want to keep that speed up hills it is really loud. Besides that it's a great system.
D.Camilleri 05-18-2005, 10:49 PM Pinnacle makes a nice exhaust system. He custom built one for my Sub for my cummins conversion. Very nice job, I even got to help and also got to get a look at his fab shop.:D
BornReady6.5 05-18-2005, 11:37 PM My vote is for the SS supply. Hangers needed a little help, but it sounds so sweet. It was a little loud at first but with a few miles it mellowed to a perfect sound. The best part is the turbo sound..expecially when you shut off the engine you can hear the turbo whistle down. I wouldnt change it for anything.
You wont be disapointed.
greenmtn. diesel man 05-19-2005, 07:38 PM thanks for the input everyone. I was also heavily considering the system from SS. It looks pretty impressive. Fabbing or modifying hangers isn't bad. Welding and grinding is fun as long as it is something worthwhile and you don't absolutely have to get it done tonight to get to work the next morning ha ha. but seriously; if you put this bigger system on without the crossover pipe, is it even worthwhile? or will the bigger crossover make it perform that much better?
BornReady6.5 05-19-2005, 08:50 PM Go with the SS. You wont regret it.
Not sure about the crossover, I dont have one yet. But it is in my plans.

How does it sound? Does it sound like stock when not loud or different? How does it sound when loud?
Once I had the pleasure to hear (and even drive) a 6.2 with an almost completely open, truly dual system in a Blazer :) It sounded like a very slow running 9 cylinder radial engine they have on some old airplanes you sometimes see on flight shows, but a tad deeper. And it was a bit loud. I was very much tempted to actually buy it, but the price was too high.
