Alright so we have a 2003 Silverado 3500 that is a cab and chassis. Its strictly a tow truck and will usually have a 50ft kaufman Low-Profile Dually Wedge trailer behind it. We ordered an air bag kit and it dont fit our cab and chassis truck. Should we modify it to work? There will usually be 3 cars or trucks on the trailer so there will be alot of weight. What would be the best thing to do? We have 245s on 19.5 wheels and they come close to hitting the flat bed on it when we have a 32ft enclosed trailer with a car in it. So we need more clearence for sure when we have a the 50ft 5th wheel trailer attached to it. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you. Ricky

As long as you have the right air bag kit for your make and model truck, there's no reason that I know of, for them not to fit just because it's a factory cab and chassis truck. Are you sure the kit is for a dually and not a 2500 HD? That would make a difference.

We called air lift and they said they said they dont even make a kit for a cab and chassis truck, its still in development. When I ordered it, it said it was for 2500hd 3500 dually. But it dont work.

There are 2 dually rears available, I believe...the standard width (GYT) which is '74", and the standard cab & chassis rear which is 66" (frame is narrower as well, I believe?)...I'm guessing that's the hang up?

Yes, the chassis cab is narrower at the frame rails, which in turn changes all the mounting points.

Correct its the narrower rear end. Does anyone know of a air bag kit for a cab and chassis truck? Air lift does not make them yet and I'm pretty sure Firestone does not, at least I haven't found it.

I have not heard of one, you will probably have to piece together a kit and do some fabrication.

for the amount of weight you are running, ever think of respringing the truck for the weight. Take the truck to a spring shop and see what they can do or have to say.
