I was under the impression that when you add NOS your EGT is supposed to go down.

Most of my pass's the other day were about 1,600 deg with just Extreme tune, but when I added the NOS it went up to 1,800 deg

Does that sound right to you guy's, or was I missing something?

Are temps Supposed to go up with NOS or did I have too much? or not enuf?

Jet size were only .80 and .100

IIRC, from lots of other threads on this subject, NOS increases EGTs almost exactly as you've experienced.

PM Kennedy - I remember him talking about it before. BMDMAX should also have first hand experience.

You are now burning more fuel, making more power, and therefore more BTU's...

How far can you go with EGT's before problems will arise?

I have melted two SPA gauge probes so far using nitrous. I can cross 2000 degrees pretty easily in the 1/4 and have been doing so for a long time.

I am shooting a snotload of nitrous and temps are still rising so I don't think I have found the limit where the fire starts to get put out.

We'll find out when someone lunches a piston etc.

Seriously though, I've seen 2000°f+ as my #2 runs will hit 1800°f+

If you guys are seeing 2000 degrees with nitrous, would running nitrous & propane send the EGT's higher than 2000?

Thx for the replies

More fuel being burned = more heat

Makes sense

Thx again

Getting ready to install my NoS kit by SD. I also have the h20/meth thing. What would the temp result be if I were to squirt h20 only while on NoS?

Could the NoS freeze/crysalize the h20 particles?

I am lucky I have a brand new Duramax engine complements of the GMC 100k mile warrantee. :)

I think SD has warned against running NO2 and water/meth at the same time. Yes it will freeze. SD does it but he is INSANE!(In a good way):ro) ):h

MIne Drops 200 degrees in the 1/8 miles with the NOS. from 1400 to 1200.

If you run the Water/meth with the N2O....(big set of brass ones).... Flip it on after the 1/8th mile mark only and make sure it is on a hobbs system that stops the flow as soon as you get out of it. It will freeze the water molocules inside the intake tube during the run, but this won't give it enough time to do much harm (in my experience). JUST DO NOT RUN IT FOR THE WHOLE 1/4! Warning: New pistons on the way for these kind of antics. You can crush the stockers with this pressure. It is probably better just to put the bait down and back away.

Dieselrcr, I think you may be putting out the flame a little. What size jet are you running? The LLY shouldn't have as much fuel as the LB7, so I don't think you should be able to use comparable size jets at the same elevation. The only way I can see losing EGT, is if you are burning less fuel.

Maybe the LLY reacts diff. to the NO2?:confuzeld You definitely have one fast LLY though, so it must be working for you.

I went up to Maine this past weekend to a dyno day. It was mostly dodges and a few Dmaxes. I was running pretty consistant 700HP and 1385 torque numbers all day, I repeated the numbers about four times. Well there was a guy there who was trying like crazy to beat me and on his last run he turned on all his stacks, NOS and water/meth at the same time, he got a 720HP and all of a sudden BOOM he blew his motor. It was his third one in three years and always with NOS and a side of meth, he tried blaming all the boxes but I know better. He was driving an 02 Dmax, besides him the closest dodge guy was 200HP and 285 ft. lbs. of torque less than me.:D Can you be more specific?

Well thats my old Numbers from when i was only running an 85 jet. i have not taken the time to look at it lately with my larger jets. i will take a look at it when i race on fathers day.

Don't dial it in to much more dieselrcr...don't want you getting faster than the LB7's! :joke: Give it hell.
