What was the problem that a surge in reverse indicated. Mine did it once this morning.

DTC 36
That's a sign the fuel solenoid is worn.

My 00 did that very frequently, it didnt seem to do it with the pump advanced but since retarding it, it seems to have come back?

Some will claim it's the APP (fuel pedel) but I've had it daily with a worn f sol and it has not returned but maybe once since then.

My truck used to do it, surged almost all the time mind you, but in Reverse it would sometimes even underrun and stall.

5068 Pump/PROM fixed mine ;)

He's got some pics alright, but its not a solenoid that you can go buy and put on. Its part of the IP, need a rebuild to fix it.

It's the cap in the center of the eight fittings. I'd like to have a dail and stand to set it, but I'd have to make it.

Its only done it once and hasn't repeated. Quantam, I finally lost the alternator!! Went out yesterday on the way to work. Had the battery charger with me so I just charged it all day!

I drove my IP with failing F sol for ~ a year. You can let it go 'till it gets worse and the more lubercation you dump in the fuel tank, the better it will run in the meantime.

I put in the 5211 today. The F sol had been giving DTC 36 and seemed different from the other working F sol I have. To make it work I tightened the cap first a 1/32" turn each screw and then just a hair. I had the IP head off so I could test the drive tang for movement. It started right up and hasn't thrown a DTC yet.
