I have a 2004 chevy 2500hd and some times when I use my windshield washer the wipers will not go off until I turn off my truck for about 5 min. Anyone know if there is a relay or something that could be sticking? Or what I need to check?? Thanks for any help

Same thing happened to me. Wipers would take a few extra swipes after shutting them off, thought I was imagining things. Then one day they wouldn't shut off at all. Shut the truck off, problem went away and hasn't come back in 3 months. Other strange electrical stuff happening too, low fuel light came on but no warning chime or message, service brake system alarm and message comes on at start up, no sound from radio, low washer fluid warning not working, cargo light indicator light flashes on for a second when other interior lights are turned on, tachometer only reading between 2000 and 5000 sometimes.

Wow, now that I typed all that I suppose I should be worried!

Actually I did a search for this problem and found no results, but after going through the electrical diagram it looks like the wiper control module would be at fault which is part of the wiper motor assembly. The control knob would be ruled out for reasons I can't remember. First course of action is to hit it with a hammer! If that doesn't work, replace the motor.

Hope this helps
Mike

:funnypost Isn't that always step 1? Hit it with a BFH!!!!

Of course, replacement of the motor is mandatory if you are a tad over-zealous with step 1.

Tom  (Actually, I did this very thing on the Jimmy's LH window motor, and it fixed it!)

It's the wiper control module. Mine got progressively worse and finally would not shut off. The module mounts on the wiper motor and is under the windshield cowling. About 50 bucks for the part and an hours labor.
