EFI is gonna take 800 bucks from you, but besides a tranny it will be the best thing you ever did. Chad at alligator has EFI I beleive. McRat, Guy from SoCal, Idaho Rob are the best IMO.

You have 2k to spend... you tow alot... After the things I've learned around here from myself and others this would be my list:

Trans-Go JR $99

EFilive $800 (make sure you buy from someone that will sell you a TUNE WITH it!! The options big block gave you above are all GREAT people!)

Gauges - about $400 with pod depending on what gauges you go with.
Get EGT (Exhaust Gas Temp) and Boost at least, if you want 3 gauges I would also go with oil temperature. The bad thing about the 3 gauge autometer pod is you have to goof with the sunvisor a bit when you put it down - it's not bad, I mean it's livable but, an issue.

Why....

TransGo Jr:
Most people even our resident tranny expert says that he recommends these even with a STOCK programmed truck, but, ESPECIALLY with a power adding tune.
It also shifts alot better - smooth as stock, but, quick and positive with no delay or flare. I LOVE it!

EFILive:
The opportunity for power is absolutely endless... You can do almost anything with it and run any amount of power your truck can handle and even more than your truck can handle - that's why you go with reputable tuner!
You tow alot - the banks brake or even the fleece turbo brake are AMAZING products... i don't know the price on the fleece unit but the banks is around 1200 bucks to start with out the PDA...
EFILive you can MAKE your own turbo brake through the software. You can't set the speed to stay at or anything like the banks, but, you can set it to come on only after 2200 RPM. So a quick downshift the brake comes on and helps you safely ascend hills and a quick upshift the brake goes off.
So 1200 bucks for just a break...or 800 dollars for a brake AND horsepower... That's why I recommend EFILive.

Gauges:
Custom tuning you're going to want to see what is going on under the hood... keeping your EGTs in check will help the longevity of your motor and will show you if there's something wrong.

the only thing i dont like about efi live is not having the ability to changes tunes on the fly like the banks six gun how long does it take to go from one tune on efi to another? i know this post is probobly gonna end up in the wrong forum, i would like to get everything from one vendor just to save on the hassle. i didnt see Alligator Performance have EFI live Thanks!

That is one drawback... The MOST I've seen is 3 minutes.

The truck has to be stopped and off, then key to on, plug the laptop in, plug flashscan in and start the flash...

They're working on a way for the flashscan to do stand alone flashing of tunes w/out the laptop - then we'll be able to switch tunes on the fly, but, they've been very open and said the tune switching won't be for a while.

When you have to ask what to do with $2k I think you should not be spending it at all. Stick it in the bank and save it for when you really need it.

Outside of that...no idea what kind of truck you plan on adding performance parts to. Do you have a DPF or not. Are you willing to void your warranty? Like others have said get a turner, exhaust and beef up your tranny seem to be a good starting point. Good luck!

the truck is an 07 CC Dually classic just turned over 70000 miles, i have considered the Banks but the thing i dont like about it is the so called "lack of low end" power delivery. Why can Banks switch on the fly and Efi not? seems strange to me. BTW What if in the future is the best, i mean BEST, transmission?

EFI can not switch tunes on the fly do to lack of PINS available on the Bosch ECM. Banks is really just a fuel box to my knowledge I could be wrong, as I have never run one. It takes 1 minute 30 seconds give or take a few seconds to reload a tune for me. EFI is the way to go if looking at the future at all.

As for your trans that all depends on where you are located

banks is overpriced and underpowered. i would never recommend them as a best option. trans and tune...

Before going with EFi see if someone in your area will show you theres and download the free software from EFIs site and see what you think. It isn't for everyone and if its not for you get a PPE tuner.

That hilarious...I mention to put the money in a bank (financial institution) and the conversation turns to banks programmers.

I agree with Dozerboy on PPE's. I have a PPE and love mine. Not into tweeking things myself so I just plug it in, program it and go. Works great. PPE's support is also very good. Also a Transgo Jr. is a must. You can get them installed around $300 give or take, less then $100 if you do it yourself. Finally a turbo back exhaust will help as well. Those three things (programmer $500-$1000, exhaust $400, transgo jr. $100-$300) will turn your truck into a totally new outfit. You will wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

Good luck. Was just giving you flack on not spending your 2k.

Why do wives do that? I've got the money for my build waiting for me to come home and spend it and my wife keeps going back and forth on wether or not to let me build my d@mn truck.

Not a bad topic. I was thinking about doing the same thing in about a month. Looking for a vendor on here that might offer up a package deal. I think I'd like to get EFI with whoever makes a good economy tune, Edge insight and the transgo jr kit w/ Transynd. Just wondering if the tranny ever needed to be takin apart if a GM would notice this transgo jr mod that gets done?
