Amsoil has a very good filter which is like 90% efficient at about 5 microns I think. Part # is EAO-52 for the DMAX. That is substantially better then almost anything short of a bypass.

Used Rotella for the first time in my truck just because I was getting sick of the $90 oil change using Amsoil HD 15w-40. Rotella hold less pressure when it is hot and when I check my oil there are bubbles on the dipstick which I don't like. Guess it is back to the Amsoil !

I think the best oil is Schaeffers. We have always used Baldwin oil filters for oil, and Racor for fuel. Racor just came out with the new coalescer fuel filters which GM now private labels as their own. Here is a link to both with more info.

I ran Schaeffers oil for several years in two different trucks. It is just aggravating to order $300 everytime I order. I also love their penatro 90, citrol, and greases. They have awsome products. Yep, talked myself into it. Think I will get up an order for my next oil change!!

This is a topic that is mostly based on opinions. THere are definitely bad filters or filters that have failed.

Also, many people are still of the mind that the oil should be changed every 3,000 miles. Some say 5,000, and so on.

Synthetic is supposed to be superior to dino oil, and as long as the oil meets the applicable specification for your use, they shuold be roughly the same.

It really comes down to the product, application and what you are willing to spend. All of the premium oils and filters are excellent choices. You'll have to determine what is most important to you and factor in the cost. The Amsoil EaO Absolute Efficiency oil filters with the Donaldson media seems to have some of the best filtration efficiency and holding capacity ratings.

If you are asking what others use...I use Amsoil in my diesel engines and Baldwin filters, but I have recently started to use the Amsoil EaO filter with better filtration according to my UOA reports.
