Got my first taste of the Banks LLY at the dragstrip.

Impressions. Very smooth drivibility. Not very smokey when set to kill vs other similiar HP tunes. Power is soft in 1st and 5th, which is typical for harness boxes.

Banks:
14.22 @ 92.17 on a 1.88 60' solo on kill.
13.91 @ 95.30 on a 1.87 60' with Predator on 40HP. Bursted with Predator on higher settings.
Stacking PPE + Banks didn't go faster or quicker, but would go 13.96 @ 93.8

Predator on #1 + Banks on Kill is nice. Recommended stack.

PPE:

Not as smooth as Banks, but more power in 1st and 5th. Twitchy in T/H after you've been racing, acceptable in normal street driving after it "unlearns" WOT runs. Not sure if the trans convertor lockup is doing it, you can make it behave by running no T/H.

13.93 @ 94.58 on a 1.87 60' solo on Kill.
13.68 @ 96.40 on a 1.82 60' with VA on Kill.

Ran a bunch of different combo's but these were the highlights.

DA at California Speedway was 2500-3400, and a 10mph constant headwind.
Predator had run 14.42 @ 91 at 2100 at the same track, and VA is .28 slower.

Cliff Notes:

Banks guys? It's a killer street tune that is more powerful than some might believe. If you want to remove your speed limiter, buy a cheap Predator and add the 40HP tune to pick up significant gains.

PPE Guys? You've still got the hottest available tune I've tested, and when you add the VA to it, you can run nearly as quick as the LB7's. Yes, you will smoke a bunch, but the gain in power is worth it. Buy a helmet. Even with a heavy truck, you'll need it.

:grd:

Footnotes: Ralph rode shotgun on a few passes, but when we ran 13.88 with two people in the truck, they gave us grief.
No P1093's with any of the tunes or stacks. Not even going to or from the track. Go figure. Not even radical bursting set the 1093. Some passes fuel rail pressure matched commanded (within reason) all the way down, and others had the pressure drop 50%.
At no point did I have over 1/4 tank, and many passes were 1/8th tank or less.

Just think if the track conditions would have been better the Vette was .25 & 3 mph off. It was like running LACR-:t

Now, all you need to do is post those videos! My camera man got some pretty good videos all of you (including Kat;) ).

Thanks again for letting the Banks make it's way onto Big Blue, Pat. (and the fun evening). Boosted 4WD launches are definitely something interesting; I believe my sunglasses flew off the dashboard on the first run.

On a side note, some guys in a 5.3 Silverado Ext. Cab wanted to run light to light right by my house.:badidea: I spooled her up, smoked the tires, backed off, got on it 1/2-3/4 throttle, hooked up, and let er rip. They never pulled in front of me. The guys' exact words, "Powerstroke ain't got nothin' on you, brother!". Cool guys. Ok, back on topic.

Well since I already limped the Alli with the six-gun alone, I'll need my SC IV before I add a predator.

A second is not nearly as quick in my opinion. Not saying that 13.68 is slow, just that many LB7`s have run in the mid 12`s with a stack. Mtomac run 13.2`s at least 2 years ago with a stack. Regardless; you are faster then my LB7:eek:

I am sure you are heavier then tomac is, well at least the truck is. And Mike is a small guy, so you probably out weigh him as well. Great times, and you are quickly becoming the LLY pioneer!;)

No, we are not up with the LB7's yet. But it is no longer a full second at the same track, same day, same weight. It's about .4 seconds difference now. Certainly within striking range. Not too long ago, we were struggling to hit 400RWHP. Now the goal is 475.

I estimate that the LLY's on the West Coast (in bad air) will hit the 12's in 3 months on tuning, exhaust and trans without drugs. We will see.

Hmmm, thought the 6 gun had a better trans protect than Edge...

I was in 5th gear WOT and felt what I think was Banks defueling (kind of a jerking sensation)to protect the trans but I didn't back out of the throttle soon enough and got the CEL and locked in 3rd gear.

At some point I will revisit the Edge. The initial release was much slower than the Predator in the 1/4mi, and the Banks is quicker than the Predator.

McRat, what size N2O jets are you running with these programs? I'll be running the LLY tonight at the strip w/stuff in my sig. Just wondering where to start on jetting.

Thank-you,
Rob

McRat

I was running .070 jet which was worth 60-90HP depending on the stack.

Not sure if the Predator has enough fuel to warrant a big jet, I'd start with a .050, look at your MPH, then do a .060, and see if it climbs. Keep going up until MPH drops.

Thank-you, for your help. With the propane running it really smokes now. I'll start with the 50 or maybe the 45, I think 55 is the biggest I have.
