Hope you guys can help...my truck has the am/fm/single CD option (RPO UQ3). Would like to upgrade to OE nav unit. I'm told that I would need to add an amplifier because the UQ3 doesn't come with external amp which the nav radios require.
Is this correct? If so, has anyone done this upgrade on an NNBS UQ3 truck?

You have a non Lux setup. Never done one but look up Lux here. I was thinking the Amp would have to been programmed as well as the Nav unit to work in the truck. Dealer only option on that part that I know of.

Have you considered aftermarket? It would be alot easier and you wouldn't have to upgrade anything else.
and cheaper and better
Yep,,,Way better. I have the OEM nav and almost always use my Magelen. Sorry I spent the money. If you want one I will sell you mine.

not to mention aftermarket does alot more than just navi you get a list of features a mile long
oem radios suck always ive never had one that could come close to a aftermarket of the same style

Yes but the OEM nav unit allows the RSE to work. Non of the aftermarket stuff does that. I know they can do the steering wheel controls, onstar, but not rear radio.
Thats why I went OEM. As for the amp, you have one with the bose, just not the lux unit.

Here is what I've spec'd out for an aftermkt system (gave up on OE nav install):
Pioneer Avic-X910BT HU
Pioneer GEX-P920XM (XM module)
Metra 95-3305 Dash Kit
Gmos-LAN-01 Adapter (chimes, RAP, et al)
40CR-10 Ant Adapter
Rear Camera Sys: Rofstra custom pkg for aftermarket nav radio (everything but the display)
Don't need RSE, or IPOD/bluetooth, or steering whl controls...hows this look to you guys?

you can get dual zone units which would pretty much do the same
