Got 30 days left on full warranty. Am going to take the truck in for a check up.

Here is what I want checked. Steering column clunk. Computer, to make sure there are no updates to it. (Never been done.) Couple of other little things like cracked reflector lens.

Truck has been great, only been to the dealer once in 3 years. I have done all the maintenance since day one. Only thing I have noticed recently is a little belt squeal when driving in very wet conditions and only when pulling the camper.

What else should I get checked?

Wheel bearings and ball joints in the front end. Mine has 43k, just out of warranty and all of the sudden i'm getting a popping noise in the front end when I turn. Maybe have them check the brakes as well.

I agree on the wheel bearings. They just replaced mine and i only have 22,000 miles on truck. Another thing would be the idler and pitman. They seem to never last very long.

Thanks, I only have 26,000 on it, but 36 month warranty is up September 1 so am taking it in next week.

Any other ideas?

Also get the newer cab mounts. Mine are getting installed today.

Tranny cooler lines. Check for leaking.

unless you are having a problem with things no dealer is going to start installing non worn out items like new cab mounts, ball joints or wheel bearings.
You can ask them to do a once over for leaks and stuff like that but be reasonable.

my 02's wheel bearings lasted til 100k miles. but def have them checked, along with balljoints.

Well my new cab mounts are getting installed and all I did was give them the campain #.

What is this campain number you speak of?

Okay, so far I am getting.

Inspection for Leaks.

Lube Job. (It's time and I am sure I got them all last time, but I will have them do it this time just in case.)

New Fuel Filter. (I know, I have done it but it is a pain and the truck will be there anyway.)

Tires rotated and wheels checked.

Belt checked. (Squeals once in a while. Not often and usually when everything is wet.)

Steering column. (I seem to be developing the clunk sound and it is getting more frequent.)

I will ask the mechanic about the cab mounts. Don't know about them and don't seem to have any problems. Will also ask them to check idler and pitman.

That is the list so far.

Realize that the solution for the steering wheel clunk is a $3 muffler clamp. GM's "fix" doesn't.

I had an issue when just telling them about the cab mounts and how rough it drove over expansion joints. Gave them the Campain # and it was a done deal. The two dealers I went to had no idea what I was talking about. The mounts showed a definete improvement on the harsh ride.

Sounds reasonable.
Good luck.
