: Trans is out and apart

Well, the trans is out and apart on the work bench. It took me 4 hours, by myself, to remove the trans. I rented a floor trans jack, but only needed standard tools other than that. Very straight forward without any surprises.

Only thing special, so far, needed to tear down the trans is a good set of snap ring pliers.

I have about 11,000 miles total and 6000 miles of those with predator on 85/100hp and about a dozen high boosted launches. I never limped it.

C1's = look perfect(no burns or hot spots, and still see the numbers)
C2's = same as C1's

C3's = discoloration on inner part of clutches, and some hot spots on the steels.

C4's and C5's = haven't looked yet.( It's about beer thirty)

I'm waiting on some clutches and then it's going back in, hopefully soon.

Are you upgrading it with a kit? If so, I would like to know what kit you are using (Transgo, Bully dog, etc.)

I'm taking pictures and can load on to the computer, but can't figure out how to get them on here.

I'll give a run down on how I R & R'd after I'm done. I couldn't find much doing the searches.

I'm installing a transgo,w/new OEM clutches where needed, and a suncoast triple disc converter.

If you still can not figure it out, email them to me and I will post them for you.

Try this, go to post reply, manage attachements, then go to the file where they are saved and then click on the file and then click ok.. This will upload the pic if it is within the size specs, if not resize it and then redo the steps again. Good luck. Email is in profile if you need it.

IF I get ahold of that SOB responsible for holding up getting those clutches to you, I'll personally ring his neck:eek:

Rob,

Are you using a lift or how high did you have to get the truck for the alli and jack to clear?

Considering this project myself but getting the alli in/out w/o a lift seems to be the trick.

Thanks,
Michael

Hey dmaxallitech, I'll send you the rope to ring his neck if you can find him, but wait till after UPS picks up.:D Well, anyway I've had a lot of time to make sure everything is right( I hope).

I lifted the truck so the truck frame was off the ground 2'6" or so.

As said before C1's and C2's were fine. C3's and C4's were discolored and steels had some hot spots. C5's were fine.

Thanks for the picture help GMC2500HD. I'm taking a lunch break from installing the propane and N2O. I'll do a post with picks soon.

I'm using OEM clutches because I'm a cheap a$$. I have PM'ed a couple of guys running only converters and transgo kits w/OEM clutches that are holding a ton of power. I'm going to test out this set-up, and if it won't hold the power, I'll upgrade again. I thought I'd see for myself, after doing the R & R, it isn't the end of the world if I have to get back in there.
