So I had the rear ujoint replaced on the rear driveshaft because of a squeak i was getting, I didn't change the front ujoint cause it was done last year. SO i get it done and it still squeaks.. So i had the wife hop in and slowly let it creap down the driveway while i walked next to the truck, its squeaking right by the rear ujoint... What else could it be?????, Thanks

Do you have single or 2 piece driveshaft? Recheck the front joint and if 2 pc shaft the carrier bearing. A simple squeak can travel the entire length of shaft making point of origin diagnosis difficult at times.

Forgot one thing... best way to check U joints is with shaft removed, that way joint can be flexed completely

I have the same problem. I just bought a u-joint this AM and will be replacing it today sometime. Hopefully this will fix my problem. I also get a high pitched humming noise under light acceleration and when slowing down (load on the driveline). I pray this will take care of my problem....it comes and goes right now.

who00knows, you just described my entire problem perfectly. I took it to the stealer right before my warranty ran out to have it checked out and they told me it was my 1" blocks in the rear grinding against the leafs. I was kind of stunned since it was a rotational noise. Then the tech told me it was my aftermarket wheels and tires (I shot right back that they were actually original GM parts...hehe). So I ended up having to pay for an hour of diagnosis time to hear that. I guess I will just replace the ujoints and hope the noises go away. Anybody know if ujoints are covered under the original 3year/36months warranty? If it is I am going to go back and complain that the techs diagnosed the wrong problem while I was still under warranty and now I am past warranty.

If any debris got inside one of the cups durring install it could cause a squeak. Or if the installer had on of the needle bearing fall to the bottom of the cup while installing (and then reallise it and put it back in place) it could slightly bend something and cause a squeak.

Yes, they are covered, have had both my trucks repaired under warranty with the same symptoms.
