I'm at almost 50,000 miles and the pads still look good??? I've never had a vehicle with such long life out of the discs.. Anyone else getting serious miles out of thier pads? Rotors are looking good still too..

I had 70K on my 2000 silverado 1500 and the brake pads were still over 50%. These trucks have some hard pads which I've heard can last 100K or more. Only problem is they are also hard on the rotors. I like them since they don't leave very much brake dust on the wheels.

75K miles, lots of towing, mountainous terrain.... I think these brakes are made of pretty good material to last this long. Good power, low dust, long life.... usually you can pick any 2 attributes. It is rare indeed to find all 3 in one package!

Does BAER or Pagid or Wilwood or Brembo even make a package for us yet? I remember finding a link once to radially slotted rotors, but darned if i can find it.

I'm replacing the rear pads and rotors on my 2001 2500HD in the morning. I have 46K on my truck and the rotors are trashed. Very rusty with pieces of rotor breaking off on the edges. I'm not impressed.

I still have my 01 2500HD 8.1 gasser, 97,000 on the dial. Have not nor needed to replace the brakes yet. Rotors still look good and my best quess is I probally have 15k left before replacement. I'm very impressed with these brakes. Hope my DuraMax grippers last this long.

72,000+ on my '02 some pad left on the fronts, rears were gone. Lots of heavy towing and big hills. Have fun getting the calipers off, if you don't have an impact wrench!

front pads & rotors soon, squealing sometimes
rear pads at 50,000 miles roughly, to many burnouts. mechanic was baffled why the rears went first. gee I wonder why. hate to see what my c1's look like

102,800 miles - still running the OEM pads and rotors and they look fine.

42,000 on my 01 and all rotors are flaking and rusty. I think the guys who work their
trucks hard have less brake problems. I think the heat drives the moisture out.
The pads look like new, but the rotors are so bad the truck is not safe to drive.
I'm looking at the options out there for new rotors.
Note: My 1972 C20 (converted to a 6.2) has 285k on the orignal front rotors.

I got 36K out of mine before all 4 corners needed replacing. Rotors scored, rusted and pitted, pads not much better. Recently at 45K front caliper DS siezed completly without warning, luckily was close to home, took it to the dealer and had the front calipers changed under warranty (extended warranty). Turns out one of the 2 pistons stuck on and wouldn't release, both were done because service manager didn't want to chance the other side PS going out on me. I'm also looking to upgrade calipers, rotors, pads, as I'm not too confident with the OEM stuff.

stop and go all day long with about a 4K pound trailer, replaced the rears at 33,000.

Changed the rears only @ 97,000 miles. Fronts still at 40-50%.

Doesn't the Allison help save wear and tear on the brakes???? Are you manny trans. guys seeing more wear???

43k on original pads and rotors. No rust. Pads are ceramic which wears well with not much rotor wear. Ceramics are all I'll put on earlier (old body style) trucks because those brakes su**. Helps the wear issue.

Well I guess I'm the first handshaker that will speak up. 118k miles, about 15k towing an 11k pound 5er and am still on factory fronts and rears. Pads still look good. I drive around 80 miles per day, close to 50/50 hiway/city. I do use tranny to slow the truck down as much as possible...has to help on brake life.

Yes it does. Sometimes on long down hills even when I'm not towing I hit the tow/haul button just to listen to that fine piece of machinery grab gears on the way down. The brake life is spectacular if your used to the old body style rigs chewing pads (and the occasional rotor) up every 20K miles like I was.

Just courious, but what does a set of rotors cost?

mossy

For the rears I just paid $87 ea. from my local NAPA. For the 8.1 or the D-max,most places didn't even carry the cheapie import rotors. The pads were $55 for Raybestos PG PLus.

135k on original brakes. They need replacing though. Truck is starting to shudder when the brakes are applied.
