Whats the narrowest tire I can run on an H2 rim without having weird wear problems (or any other problems for that matter)?

If I install a tire that less wide then the H2 stock tire would that keep the edge of the tire from scraping my mudflaps during a full turn?

I want to run bridgestone if that helps.

PC, "by the book" the following sizes are spec'd for a 8.5" wide 17" rim..

LT285/60R17
LT265/70R17
LT275/70R17
LT285/70R17
LT305/70R17
LT315/70R17
33x12.50R17LT
35x12.50R17LT
37x12.50R17LT
37x13.50R17LT
38x13.50R17LT

FYI Light Truck Metric Designations are;

LT = Light Truck Designation
265 = Section Width in Millimeters
70 = Aspect Ratio
R = Radial Construction
17 = Rim Diameter in Inches
D = Load Range

Light Truck High Flotation Designations are;

33 = Tire Overall Diameter in Inches
12.50 = Section Width in Inches
R = Radial Construction
17 = Rim Diameter in Inches
LT = Light Truck Tire
D = Load Range

PC, are you looking for mileage gains? Why go to a narrow tire?

I bet you could get a narrower tire on if you cranked up the tbars, and spaced out the wheels a tad........

IMO,
The HD 2500-3500 trucks are heavy and need the load Range E capacity for stability. I am running 265x75x16 Goodrich KOs with Load Range D and I could feel the loss of that driving stability feel when I switched. Load capacity on the KO tire is about equal to the stock 245s that the truck came with and I have gotten use to the stability. The KOs have proven great offroad.

with new 285 bfg mudders i too feel the "stability loss" too, but i dont blame that on the side wall i blame it on the tread. look how much more tread you have compared to a stock tire, i believe the rubber in the tread is moving and not the side wall. i am sure there is a little movement on the sidewall but not noticable. i also have a bald set of 285 bfg all terrians and it feels solid. no movement like the new mudders!

They don't run at all??
I don't get what you are saying. Do they work good on the H2's or will they not work at all?

The tires will work on the H2 wheels, but don't come on H2s.

Even 265 will work on the H2 wheels.

I have seen 265/70's on H2's and they look retarded. bulging sidewalls and the sidewalls scuff easily and are exposed to road debris (nails, metal, etc.) and become vulnerable. Would not go any more narrow than 285.
