My 01 CC SB has the off the line shudder and I was thinking about replacing it with a one piece driveshaft. I was gonna start looking at junk yards first to see if I could find one. I'm just not sure what years the one piece aluminum shafts were on. I know I can have one made locally but I was gonna try the yards first. Thanks

All of the trucks since then have the one piece shafts. I need to know the length of your rear section of the 2 piece drive shaft (also asked in another thread.)
One warning about getting a drive shaft from a junkyard, there is a huge chance of damage to the drive shaft in front end collisions. I have seen numerous broken Allison bellhousings from front end collisions. The engine and tranny are pushed back until they are stopped by the drive shaft. The two piece shaft has more joints to bend, so it can effectively become shorter than the one piece shaft and the trans is more likely to survive.

try using front end shims to lower carrier bearing, while you're at it check bearing too

I checked my bearing and it is bad. I called all my local parts stores, they don't list the bearing is this a stealer only part? Thanks

Try your local driveline shop. They can probably get it for a lot less than the stealer price.

boondokr do you still need the length of the rear shaft? Yesterday was the first chance I got to look at the truck and I forgot to measure it. If you still need it I will get it for you tonight.

Skinny, I have had the same problems with my driveline. But only after adding rear blocks. I shimmed and shimmed, but ended up having a local shop build me a new one. all the shudder and vibration are gone. now If you do this..do not reuse your slip yoke. I did and am having problems with a what i call driveline bump. i have been told a new slip yoke " like on the newer models" with a different sleeve will fix this. what happens i guess is the old yoke dries out and binds slightly. so at stop and go driving you feel/hear it "bump" unbind.
btw i paid $235 with new u-joints for mine.
If i am wrong someone please correct me, cause i only learn by my own mistakes.

Gray Max can you post the length of your driveshaft. I got a measurement of 71 1/2 inches but before I have it made I was just curious what yours was. where do you recomend I get a new slip yoke from? The dealer? What year did they change the slip yoke? Thanks
