Between 10mph to 40mph, when I take my foot off the gas (diesel) peddel and coast, I get this noise (whine), but I dont know if its normal whine noises coming from a truck, tranny, differential, or transfer case , or even bearings for that matter.
I had this noise with the old firestone tires then I changed to REVOS (super tire) the whine is still there.
After 7000 miles of winter towing the whine seems a little louder (but not much).
under load or accelerating don't notice the noise.
dealer couldn't find anything wrong.
How about you drivers out there???
drive safe

I'd be intrested in hearing what you find out, I just had some problems with my ATS tripple loc, and a broken input shaft and after installing the new input shaft and all 5 clutch packs, I now hear a whinnig noise when coasting to a stop, aprox 30-10mph gets pretty load around 20mph??? changed the spin on filter and didn't see any metal or really anything else to worry me.
When I had the tranny apart I checked the pump and it seemed tight, truck has 40,000 miles. The only thing I did different is ran Transyn, the allison tranny fluid. I am still working out some minor glitchs, my 2nd gear shift in TH seems a little slow, and my fourth gear shift acts like the tranny shifts twice, two fairly hard hits, primarly in T/H sometime even out of T/H it does the same thing. I might have a valve that is a little sticky or something I will be calling ATS on monday and seeing what I can find out.. shifts fine when not in tow haul, hear the whine in T/H and normal driving...
Good luck,
Jon
