You might want to take that into the dealer and see if they will good will it. Speedo problems are a known problem with these trucks. I had one good willed 2 years ago on my 03.

The cluster in that year were not the greatest. Servo motor issues. You can pull cluster and replace the motor yourself or send it to some one that can repair them. Some post on that here. You may try the dealer for a fix but as far as I know only gasser models they have replaced. Or buy and aftermarket cluster but will require a Service Tech at dealer to program to allow all DIC features come up if you have that.

Yeah you can drive it without a cluster I would say. just not know speed unless using GPS or not know if a CEL pops up or overheat. How much fuel you have in it so fill up daily. Up to you on that. As far as to who I have no idea. Just heard about it being done. Have you used the search tool and used something like ' cluster repair ' or ' cluster motor replace '. Things like that.

bad stepper motor more than likely. GM did an extended warranty but only for 5 years and 70K miles. do an ebay search for stepper motors. <$10 each, or a full set for <$50 IIRC, shipped with instructions on how to replace the stepper motor. Need a small soldering iron and a "solder sucker" . If you can't do the soldering find a buddy who can. Given that when one fails, other will follow, (spedo motor is usually the first to go) I replaced all of mine for <$50, took less than an hour from cluster removal to reinstall. If you fix your own cluster there is no need to do any reprogramming.

Really a pretty straighforward job.

I too replaced my stepper motors. Much cheaper than replacing the cluster.
