I hope this is the right forum for this, but oh well. I just installed my EGT probe, and it is making a high pitched noise. I don't know if it's the exhaust wizzing by the probe or what, but it is sure annoying.
Any help is appreciated.

Let ME guess.
The Gauge is an ISSPRO?>
Send the 'Signal Conditioning' Box back as an RMA.
They are NOTORIOUS! The frequency is very annoying if you have sensetive hearing.

Is the leak at the probe itself?
What type of gauge is it?
Is the thermocouple compatible with your analog gauge?

I bought the Attitude used, and it came with all pieces. I installed it, and now I hear a high pitched noise from that area when I get on the go ped. That's all I know. I don't know if it's a leak or what. I thought it was just a noise from the probe being hit with so much fast air.
Should I redo the tap etc...?

Did you put some teflon sealant on the pipe threads? Tape or paste may do the trick... I'm thinking that you have a small leak.
If you sealed the threads at the manifold, check the tightness on the probe. Snug is all you need for either thread... DON"T OVERCRANK IT, or you'll be cursing from here till sunday.
I would not redo the tapped hole as long as you get about two full turns into the manifold by hand. If you got it started by hand, you should be fine.
As for the "air-rush", you will not notice anything regardless of how sensitive your ears are, so that isn't your problem.
Good luck.

No -- I didn't put anything on the threads. Would regular white pipe tape sealant work? I will redo it and see...

seth, antisieze is better, may be ferrule on probe from being used before use 2 wrenches one on fitting and other on ferrule nut. look for black or any dark discoloration may tell were it is coming from. go easy, if it is ferrule nut and wont seal i have gotten away with wrapping aluminum foil or teflon tape to seal ferrule. hope you get it.

Alright -- I think I have it solved. The neighbor had some permatex "Ultra Copper". It seems to have done the trick. Nothing was mentioned about a sealant in the instructions. I guess I will just use dieselplace as my instructions from now on...
Thanks guys...
