Made a bracket for the second alternator position, used a Wix filter head (same as Permacool) Wix filter 33528, 1/2" fuel hose to OEM filter, I took the inlet hose off the OEM tube, put a splice in and attached one hose, the other hose loops around and attaches to the tube on the OE filter head. I did not use any type of sealant on the fittings (should've used teflon liquid right?) I put an O ring on around the threads of the Wix filter head (I read to do that on here.) Still bleeding air bad. Last night I was reading a thread and I don't know for sure if no matter what I do it'll stop the air bleeding without a lift pump.

I guess my question is: what do I need to do to make this work? I don't have the lift pump yet. Do I have to wait for the lift pump before this will work flawlessly? Or do I need to seal all connections, re-check o'rings/seals, add a bleeder or primer to the wix head, basically keep messing with it till it works?

I put my pre-oem down on the frame in front of the fuel cooler and have never had an air issue. I think you will find lots of similar installations with equally good results. There have been some successful installations in your location, but some failures also. I believe that most of those with problems have been using that location as a post-oem filter. You could always try taking it back apart and sealing the fittings, just to be sure, before moving it.

from what i've heard, unless you want a lift pump you need to drill a hole in the filter nipple. this should fix your issue, but it will allow a small amount of fuel to pass through unfiltered. that's one of the reasons i put mine where i do. i think if you do a search you will find some people have discussed it. i may be wrong but i believe that was the solution.

Well I have searched some, but I never saw that one.

people were't doing that to the cat filter setup as nobody kits it in post-oem configuration.

Well, I took the filter off the truck for now. I broke the filter head when I was resealing the fittings. Censored Wasn't having a good day, so I got  and took the whole setup off the truck. I'll get Kennedy's lift pump/harness and then a new filter head and try it again.
