Did a quick search, but didn't see anyone else who has this problem. Went out and started the truck this morning, noticed that the display below the PRNDL21 was blank. This is the display which shows your odometer, hours, etc... plus all the menu stuff. I have had it where it is dim first then gets bright since I start out in the garage and then back out into the sun shine. Anyway, after several miles and cycling the lights on and off, it was still dead. Stopped for fuel, turned off the truck, then started it up again. Still dead!
Anyone else have this problem? Is it a common problem with these displays? Is there a fuse I should be looking for?

Is your radio display visible? If not did you turn down the dimmer on accident?

I would check your fuses. There is an ignition fuse that could cause this.

You don't indicate what year your truck is.... However if the truck is older than a 2004.5, there are blank space(s) that may be selected when paging through the DIC options. Did you inadvertantly cycle the DIC display from one of the normal displays such as odometer, hours etc... onto a blank option?
I believe the 2004.5 and later have no blanks as the hi-Idle feature takes up the blank space on the DIC.
Just a thought.

That was a common problem with the 99-00 Chevy Trucks. The plug for that is right on top. If you press down on your dash right above your guages.....it should come back on. I had the same problem with mine.

Cougar:
See you have a 2004 like mine. A freind of mine has a 2004.5 which has the High Idle feature on the DIC. I had assumed that this feature basically would fill the blank page that exists on the DIC displays of earlier models (2004 and earlier).

The truck is an early 2004 (LB7) ... I do not have the DIC steering wheel controls, so I am not on a blank screen. The radio is showing, so yes, the dim / brightness control for the dash lights are still working. There is a fuse under hood, but it is called the IC / DIC fuse (instrument cluster and drivers information center) so since the gauges all work, the DIC is dead.
Doesn't sound like there are too many more options .... Any one else lost the DIC?
