Amsoil makes a 75W90 synthetic oil called Severe Gear made specifically for heavy load haulers' axles. Go to http://www.performanceoiltechnology.com/automotivegearlubricants.htm and scroll down to Severe Gear. I'll be switching mine over as soon as the shipment gets here!

Not to start any oil debate in this arena, But I have used Redline75W90 since 500 miles. Either fluid is an excellent choice.

Hey Jeff, is that a synthetic? I hadn't heard of it before. My best friend is an Amsoil distributor so I am easily sold on those products. I'm with you in the debate area...people buy and use what they are most comfortable with.

I see guys. No debate about it. I just need something a bit better than OEM. I worry about the heat in the rear, and want the girl to stay in great shape. Love them rolls.

I put Valvoline's top of the line synthetic in our 3500's rear differential over 80,000 miles ago and so far as I known it is doing fine

My local Master D/Max Tech recommends 75/140 synthetic for heavy haulers. He has seen a couple of problems with 75/90 but none with 75/140.

CrazyDaze,
Yes it is full synthetic. Redline only manufactures full synthetic products. I have used it from the first change. Again, Amsoil and Mobil 1 are great products as well. I think some tend to over analyze oil.

So far it has been perfect, no issues. I have it front, rear and transfer case. Chipper makes a good point about 140 for heavy haulers. I have heard similar. However, in extremely cold environments I would be concerned as that would be a pretty thick oil to get moving around and get heat in it. If you were on the road all the time like a hotshot deal then it would be the optimum fluid. JMHO

Hired Gun are you changing the diff oil because you want to or because the maintenance schedule calls for it? Just curious.

I had a dealer want to change it. I have seen nothing in the maint schedule to do it. In fact the 500 mile change is not in the 03 maint sched. I have never seen diff oil change in any veh schedule except for when you run through water with it submerged.

I also haul a lot and for long distances so am curious as to why everyone seems concerned about this issue.

A heavy hauler here! T C, you may want to reconsider your position on this. A bud with a 3500 ford waited 160,000 to do his rear end, what he found was 1" of mud in the bottom. I've used mobil 1 75-90 for years at 50,000 mi intervals with no problems!

Mobil 1 75-90 for me also. Easy to get at the local auto parts store. I change every 40k or so. Yearly maintenance.
