Ok, my next door neighbour just installed the Banks 6gun. I have the edge w/Attitude. He wants to race the Edge vs Banks. I have been towing a 5th'er and I dont want to drop the tranny. I have only been in level 5 once, just to see what it's like. If I make a high speed run against him, should I have use the tow/haul for the drag or should I just run normal?? Will level 5 limp the Ally if I have the tow/haul on and mash it from a stand-still?? or should I run with it off??
What do you all think??

You both have very close to the same power inhancments.
So if you both crank it up to max you will both limp the tranny.
If you do wish to do this than use tow/haul mode and lock out 5th, if you have that option. Take it easy when approaching the shifts into 4th.
Now by asking this question don't you think your neighbor will also see this and zero in on it.

on a stock trans banks vrs edge is close, it will depend on truck and driver IMO. level 5 may or may not hurt your trans. Limping it wont really hurt it that bad, I would try not to do it unless you really want to beat him bad stick her in level 5 and hope for the best otherwise IMO to be 100% safe I would leave it in level 4.
No when you go to race him turn your EGT back down OFF!!!! You should be able to hit the enter button IIRC 2wice quick and it will bring up a time. Set it for the max(it will go back to normal after you turn off your truck or the timer expires) Dont worry about EGT's in a 1/4 mile race. Turn your low boost fueling to the max(5). When you line up with him try TH mode and put here in 4x4, roll up a few feet and start building boost to 3-4 psi. Thats a safe number and you shouldnt do any damage on stockish tires. Run him and when you are done running click it outa TH and 4x4 and cost down, no sens clicking outa 4x4 if you are on the throttle.
:grd:
Edit: If he will race up to a lower speed like 60 or 70 or something lock out your overdrive and put the juice in level 5(I cant remember were 4th gear tops out, 5th is were bigger power gets real iffy)

What ratlover said. Also if the Banks (I'm not familiar with Banks) has defueling between locked shifts or between locked 4 and 5 like the edge does both of you could run that way. This will HELP protect both of your tranny's.

I did quite a few boosted 4wd launches on level 5 with my truck before I got the tranny done and the only time I limped it I was towing a trailer on level 5. I did have the defuel on all shifts on. Thats just my experience.

With attitude you can shift power levels on the fly.
Start out in level 4 and shift to 5 if needed.
If you limp it you most definately will loose.

I would think if you were, say in 3rd gear and decided to switch to level 5 you would definitly limp going into your higher gears while on the throtle.

I drive my truck in level 6 alot, I would say put it in TH, 4x4. But just stop racing after 3rd gear. The only thing that my banks has destroyed is those 245 firestone doughnuts. My friend used to use his J/A all the time in level 5, just dont go in high gears and you shouldnt have any probelems

Like wise dieselfumes57 I use 5\5 most of the time and have never limped it, I always use level 2 when hauling my camper and trailer or other heavy loads.

CHOPJAW,
I don't know if you have an LB7 or an LLY but, you should be posting this in the electronics section of the type truck that you have.
